Object Creator and Price No Longer Function

Hopefully someone can help me. When I place my mouse over an object to check price, nothing happens -- the object creator and price does not show up. Had not previously made any changes to my preferences so am trying to troubleshoot the problem. Have cleared cache, nothing happened. Someone told me to try the lastest version which has not been released yet, so I downloaded that yesterday and the function worked for a very short while and then was gone again. Anyone have any ideas about I should do or has this happened to anyone else. Thanks for any replies.

The most obvious cause would be: View / Hover Tips / Show Tips is unchecked (no little X in front of it).

(Which has the unfortunate keyboard shortcut of Ctrl-Shift-T vs Ctrl-Alt-T for Highlight Transparent)

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. That was the problem. But is there a mystery ghost who did this to me since I did not make any changes to that menu. This baffles me.

Do you use any keyboard shortcuts? SL has so many, many of which are quite similar so if you mistakingly change Alt for Shift or hit the wrong letter, you'll turn some obscure setting on/off .

man I love it when people use Resident Answers to get resident answers.

Another thing I have done is checked "Select only my objects" in tools. That prevented me from getting info on objects when I was in Edit mode and that drove me crazy until someone told to me uncheck it.

Oh yes, the 'select only my objects' had me cursing when trying to find out something about an object that someone else created.. on my land.

There are times when I turn off the tool tips, namely when playing a game that requires (to my mind) that I have a clear view or if the silly thing simply bothers me. I also have a poor memory and tend to forget to turn it back on. *sigh*

And if you happen to see the red, green and blue triangles.. those are show updates. I don't remember the shortcuts, but...

I have had (and seen mentioned in the forums) various setting automatically change with quite a few updates. Happens regularly.

I've gotten to the point where it doesn't even bother me any more, I just sigh and change them back.
