Ok, I want to sell some lindens. Can anyone pleast tell me the exact procedure for doing so? How many may i sell all at once? How do I get a check for the US dollar amount I make from selling the Lindens? How long does it take to receive the check? Does the lump sum I sell, sell all at one time or on an as purchased basis by say, more than one person? Any help you can give me is most certainly appreciated! =)

Selling Lindens is different to processing credit. If you want to sell Lindens then click advanced options and choose your own rate.
If you want to process credit, paypal is the cheapest option.

SLX is at http://www.slexchange.com They have a marketplace too where you can buy SL goods - and their own currency exchange. I've never tried selling Lindens, only buying them, and buying Lindens on SLX seems overly complicated to me: you basically make a PayPal payment, that then credits your SLX account with an appropriate number of US dollars, although even if you normally have instant payments on PayPal, this can take up to seven days, then you have to convert the USD to Lindens in your SLX account, then you have to find an ATM in-world to withdraw them so you can use them in-world. When I mentioned I thought it was complicated, their response was "I don't see how we could make it any easier!" - well, in my book, clicking on the little green L$ display on your screen and buying L$ with PayPal, and receiving them ten seconds laters seems easier to me, but hey, that's just me. Maybe selling them on SLX is easier than buying them. (Edited to add: I keep removing the [ url ] tags in that address, but they keep reappearing - and it's not making it a clickable link; I'm puzzled, but then, I'm blond!)

Sweetly, this page won't answer your questions about processing credit ("cashing out" , but will address most of your questions about how to sell Lindens: http://secondlife.com/currency/But this page is very important to understand. Read it closely: http://secondlife.com/currency/describe-limits.php

I've never done this before.. Thats why i asked for explicit instructions... Thanks a ton! =) It's a two part procedure, first familarise yourself with selling Lindens. This goes towards your SL account, if you want to buy more Lindens, the money will be taken from there first. If you want Lindens transferred into your bank account, you need to process credit, this means transferring money from you SL account (after selling Lindens) to your bank account. Get yourself a paypal account if you want to do this because the charges are higher if they send you a cheque. Clear as mud isn't it Once you've done it a couple of times you'll get the hang of it

Selling L$ is very easy...
1. Log into your account in the SL website.
2. Click "Sell L$" in the left column.
3. Type in the amount you want to sell, and the estimated US$ will show.
4. Click whatever button it is to Sell.
5. Log in again - this is a security measure.
6. Click Sell.
The US$ show immediately in your acount.
You could use ther advances sell stuff, but when you don't, you get the best current price anyway.
Getting the US$ is also very easy...
1. Log into your account.
2. Click "Process credit" (it's next to your US$ balance).
3. take it from there.
If you want a cheque, it'll cost you US$10 for a U.S. cheque, and US$15 for an overseas one.
I takes about 7-10 days for them to process it.

Hi Sweetly,
Phil forgot to add that you can process your credit through PayPal; this is what I use. It usually takes anywhere from half an hour to 5 days. And it's free, whereas getting a check is pretty dang expensive ($10??); that's a LOT. The PayPal record shows up as Linden Research Inc. if that helps.

Oryx, so are you saying if I process the sale thru PayPal there would be no charge for them issuing me a check? And if i go thru the Linden's, the charge for them issuing me a check is $10.00?

I wish I could tell you with certainty whose bank it's drawn on, but I'm sure that it's Linden Labs.
Yes, PayPal is an option too. $10 for a cheque is a lot depending on how much you're cashing in. I have to pay $15, but I don't have a PayPal account. Just out of interest, does it cost anything to get the money into your bank from PayPal?

Anything over that limit, and you have to pay for a PayPal premium account. I forget the exact limit. Maybe $500?

And if i go thru the Linden's, the charge for them issuing me a check is $10.00? If you process it through PayPal, there is no check. It puts a credit on your PayPal account which can be electronically sent to your bank. You do have to log into the PayPal site and do that as another step, though, or it will just sit in your account there.

Certain PayPal accounts charge you a fee to receive money. See the PayPal site for more details about this.

PayPal does issue checks; they charge $1.50 for it, and you enter in the address where you want it sent. It's under the "withdraw" menu; you get three choices: bank transfer, debit card, or check.

Really? Never noticed...it's faster and easier just to do the electronic transfer.

Has anyone had the transfer of cash to PayPal fail? I used the system in December, started the transfer to my PayPal on 7th and it arrived in my PayPal on 10th. However I did the same thing last week on 8th and it hasnt arrived yet. Is it usually so variable or should I start to shake a few trees?
