Does anyone know of a script/object that keeps avatar hands at a constant "relaxed" position? The stretched and fisted hands mess up my prim nails and it's starting to get on my nerves.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's been doing that since I joined SL... I wish I could say that you won't notice/be bothered by it anymore after putting up with it for a few years :p.

Some prim nails seem to "stick" better than others, but I have yet to find a set that doesn't eventually come off. This is why I almost never wear them any more, despite their lovely look.

Reasonably good glove-type nails are available. I like the ones from Olila.

(Note...the other reason not to wear prim nails just got a bit better. The Emerald viewer has two hand attach points...so you could, in theory, wear a set of nails AND a ring. However, I'm told that items using the auxiliary attach points don't look right to anyone NOT using the Emerald viewer. So we are not ALL the way out of the woods yet.)

The problem isn't really related to prim nails though... keep an eye out for your avie's hands when you're just standing around.

Sooner or later you'll notice that your hands ball into a fist every so often... it's annoying in and by itself even without prim nails :(.

If you get an animation overrider (AO), it will substitute custom animations for the defaults, and these usually do something with the hands.

Find a free AO like the ZHAO II and go shopping for animations for sits, stands, walks and so on that have the hands in suitably relaxed poses, or experiment for yourself with a free animation creation program like Qavimator.

By default, the SL Client ignores most hand posing attempts, and randomly cycles hands through 5 poses.

It used to be possible to specify hand poses as part of an animation, but they took that out.

It is still possible to create a new animation that specifies one of the five hand poses. BUT you have to do the specifying on import of the animation! SL will ignore what is in the animation itself. But when you import the animation, there is a choice you can make at that point for the locked-in hand pose while that animation plays. I used that feature a while back to do an animation of someone pulling a bell rope, so the hands would remain balled up in fists while holding the rope. It worked, while the animation played.

So I suppose one could create a set of walk and run and stand and sit animations, and import that set with the "hand relaxed" hand pose on import, and include an AO in the nails that replaces all walk and run and stand and sit animations with the ones you created, and that *might* keep the hands in the "relaxed" position... Maybe.

They don't make it rational or easy.

i wonder if you could make an animation with only the hands moved a little bit, set it to run for about a minute (or two), upload that with a relaxed hand pose, then put it into a wearable prim that will loop that animation every minute. That should stop the hands and wrist from moving around... I guess.

That doesn't stop the "fingers wide"/"balled up into a fist" bug though :(.

you may have an Animation in your AO that is overriding the prim nail AO animations also..that could be why ;)
