How long is a session in SL?

The camping spot I found says $18 allowed every session. I got $15 and the camping stopped automatically. Now, every time I go back to camp there, it doesn't allow me to.

Do I have to wait 24 hours before trying again?

Each place has its own rules and time limits.. so, find a couple of different places. :)

It differs on every single camp spot, depending on what the owner specifies. Am guessing the owner set it so at least one other user has to camp after you, to keep bots from sucking all the lindens out. Have met spots though where 20 other users had to take their turn first.

Honestly, dear, all the good camping is gone. Trust me on this one.

Thanks. I realize that I can't make much camping, but I figure something is better than nothing.

Possibly, yes - because L$15 is about 6 US cents, or 4 UK pence. It's hardly worth the bother.

Having said that, I camped for cash when I first started in SL. I started with the idea that any money I spent in SL had to be earned in-world.

This.

My experience was with gaming, and in most games you need to 'earn' your money (can't just buy it). So I came into SL with the mindset that if I wanted $L I needed to find a way to earn it. I camped at first too. I also looked around for a trade to start so that I could master it (and earn more money) as quickly as possible. Well, SL isn't a game like that but of course it took me a while to figure that out. This is why I started learning to build before I ever left orientation island hehe

I completely understand it though, when new people come in and start looking for ways to make $L, often it is a mindset they bring from another game.

edit: to the OP, even though this isn't the question you really asked, buy some Lindens. If you can't buy them yet, start that process and then just explore. You don't need to buy anything, just have some fun looking around for a while, when you can buy $L then you can start spending them.

Falkor, I've watched the progression of your threads so far and I'd like to answer what is sure to be your next question in advance. Every once in a while we get a series of threads from a new person that run in a similar order.

Progression of threads: How do I get money? How do I find a job that doesn't require skills? Where are good camping places and how do they work?

Next question is: I spent hours camping and the owner ripped me off and didn't pay me my money! How do I make him pay??

Answer: You can't. Linden Labs (the owners of SL) don't get involved in personal disputes between players. Don't try naming the place that ripped you off in the forums, either, because that's an abuse of the terms of service.

Really, it's much better to put your payment info on file and buy a few L$ when you need them. You can do it through PayPal if you don't have a credit card. Or spend your time exploring and seeking out free things. There are people here who pride themselves on finding everything they need here without spending any money at all. It becomes sort of a 'quest' of its own and the rewards from what I understand are much higher, as well as more satisfying than parking in a camping spot for hours.

Normally, somewhere around 5 feet two inches, but some can be longer.
