Most Fun Places in SL

I've been on SL for about two years and have done all the typical SL stuff. At one point, we had a good group of people who liked to chat and hang out and have fun. Slowly, most of them have left SL or moved on to other things.

Now, we are just a few and can't seem to find people anymore. We don't like the typical club scene and are not into SL sex. We go from place to place trying to find people, but most people seem too into the game, focused on playing a role in SL, or just trying to make money. Even if voice is available, no one is talking, but rather just watching their AV dance. BORING.

I'm not ready to give up on SL yet, but it has become so increasingly boring that I don't know if I can bear it any longer.

Any advice? Where are the fun people? Where are the fun places?

It depends what you want to do for fun. But I know what you mean about random wandering....back in the old days you could wander around and randomly meet people, and have a fair chance of meeting someone worth chatting to. These days people just teleport to the spot they want from search, and do much less wandering around and exploring, then they TP straight out when they are done. It's a shame, I think.

What is that you would be doing if you were having fun?

Building something?

Racing cars?

Have you tried wandering The Wastelands? There's no dress code other than to keep your pants on and everyone there is friendly. They have some RP, but it's not required. Everyone and anyone that you come across will talk to you :)

Sometimes my friends and I just pile into a car that can seat a bunch of people and fly/drive around saying "hi" and meeting new people.

Talking to people in sandboxes is fun, also I like going to sims where they don't speak English because the style is usually so different from what I get to experience everyday. SIC (sometimes I've seen it spelled SICK) is one example.

People do seem to be more and more isolationist though. More ban lines and security systems than I ever remember in just wandering.
