Sounds like the palletized texture bug. Try the latest release candidate viewer. Palletized textures are removed from it, to prevent the bug from being able to happen.

What's your graphics card? This sounds like the nVidia driver issue that's been going on for quite some time.

There's a fix for it which works for most people (I have nVidia and the fix works for me)
When you log in.....go to your admin menu.....look under rendering....features.....and un-check palletized textures. You will probably have to rebake after you do it.....but it should solve the problem.

You will have to do it every time you log in.....but at least it's a fix......and if it works for ya....it's really not a big deal to remember to un-check palletizeed textures upon each log in......it's kind of like checking yourself in the mirror before you walk out the door....becomes habit. ;)

ctrl alt D (or ctrl alt shift D, in some cases) opens the admin menu, it will be at the top of the screen next to help.

If you're on Mac, you need to get a REAL computer, so you can use ctrl-alt-D to see the Admin menu.
