SL the newist one looks like crap on my screen and I am not sure how to fix, I have adjusted settings within SL and within The Nvidia interface,,, The test looks horrible prims are jaggies... I am frustraited as I just got this PC back after placing in a new mobo and PSU and this new graphics card.

Also when i first signed on to SL after this iternal fix... I got an error message SL does not support it or someother such message.

I don't have a 9600, but I do have dual 8700's in my laptop, which have almost the exact same specs. (The 9700 has a 20% slower core clock than the 8700, but it can have upto double the memory, so that's likely a wash. Other than that, they're identical.) I've had no problems whatsoever, apart from the occasional "the graphics driver failed and has recovered" message from Vista when the viewer crashes. SL runs really well at max settings, and with 8xQ anti-aliasing.

Of course, the fact that I've got two cards does help, but SL still runs well if I disable SLI, so even a single 8700 works just fine. The 9600 should be about the same.

What settings did you change in the nVidia Control Panel? I would recommend leaving everything as application controlled, except for anti-aliasing. 8xQ should be good, but if you want a higher frame rate 4x will still look pretty decent. 16xQ looks awesome (that's what I use on my desktop with dual 8800 GTX's), but don't expect decent performance with such a midrange card (unless you want to cut your draw distance or sacrifice some other settings).

Also, how much memory is in your 9600? It comes in both 512MB and 1GB versions (and possibly others). If you've got the 512, you might not want to run at full draw distance, since it won't be able to keep track of as much information as the 1GB would. I'm just speculating on that, though, since the only 9700 I ever used was the 1GB (in my mom's laptop), and it worked well.

Other things to think about are how current are your drivers, and when's the last time you defragged your hard drive? The latter won't affect visual quality, of course, but it will effect performance.

I have a 9600GT and have had no problems at all with it. Been running it for 3 months, most of the graphical settings close to maximum, draw distance usually at 256, and fps is between 20-30 in most places.

Hi, Ty for this info.

I have 512 mb ram, but i am at a loss how to turn the anti-aliasing off or on or whatever.. I looked all over the settings and cant find it.. Otherwise the let the application control it is selected.. I do run vista to.
Hmm, this is a brand new HD so I am not sure defraging would be an issue. Also, i downloaded the most recent drivers from nvidia website.

There's a Hardware Options button in the Graphics Options. That'll give you access to the anti-aliasing options.

Ah...rotten Porky. I'm jealous.

Some people have reported problems with the latest batch of drivers from nVidia. They were screwing up SL pretty bad for some folks. You may want to try older versions of the drivers and see if that helps.

Does anyone know if that got fixed?

dunno Trout, I had to go back to the 175 drivers to fix the problem with the 178 drivers. But Im using dual 8800GT's. There was a fix of sorts in SL by turning off palatized textures and doing rebakes.
