Hello all.

We at the Roissy sim want to have our users using our 3 sims alot more than they use to, and seeing we have a Palais with a nicely sized stage, we thought, why not use it?

So, what i wish to know is who i need to contact in order to book a play in our sim, so people can actually come and visit it more often.

I thank all who will answer to this post. And we also are willing to accept dance groups (not the club kind).

Fake Jewell runs a theatre in SL and has written a number of plays and directed them with a team of great actors and stage staff. I'll pass on your message to her as I don't think she reads this forum much.

In fact they're currently working on a new play but are short on actors. If anyone has any SL stage acting experience and wants to be involved please give either me or her a shout!

Theatre in SL

Hi Bruno & Min

Min is quite correct (thanks very much for the mention Min) We are currently rehearsing Blood Line, which will be our sixth play in the SDC Theatre; two adaptations and four new plays. We still work in Text because voice can often be problematic.

The last play we did, we were invited to perform on another sim, and we were very heartened by how successful that was, so we know that they will travel. The plays generally have a running time of between 1 - 1.5 hours and we try to span time zones where we can (usually with two performances).

I'd be delighted to discuss this further, or invite you to an open rehearsal to see how we work.

Min is also correct that we could do with some fresh actors. We're have a male role going begging and could do with stand-in of both genders. As long as your connection speed is good, we can teach you how it all works.

I'm glad to learn of your company Fake and I'd love to hear more about it. I am Artistic Director for Act Up Theatre Company that also has done live plays in SL, most recently a full-length production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

There are also several other theatre groups developing in SL. Bruno, if you IM me in world and I'll be happy to give you the names of some other people to contact.

It always amazes me that people are unaware that theatre can and does exist in SL. Personally I think all the groups need to get together and form a coalition...a theatre association. There is a group called Theatre Arts Network that's open enrollment. You could join and send a group notice about your needs. Members are allowed to post notices as long as it's done judiciously.

Wow, I didn't know. I would love to attend the performances and perhaps if I get the nerve actually participate.

In a way just logging on is a theatre experience. SL is quite often Theatre of the Absurd.

I’m a dancer and instructor at La Performance, an interpretive show dance group. We’re a group of around 10 girls who dance to choreographed anims strictly for the love of the art. We’re currently rehearsing our fall show which will open in a couple of weeks. We’ve never taken the show on the road… but it might be fun! If you think it might fit, send me an IM!

Hi Bruno, so nice to find this post. I'm Filipa. In RL I work for a playwriting/composing team with 7 works ready to be performed already (some plays, some musicals). We are actively seeking SL theatrical groups to perform these plays and hopefully have them video'd as well for RL marketing purposes.

I know that MTI is so confused about how to charge licensing fees to groups in SL ... we self-license and can make some wonderful arrangements.

Please give me a shout in world (Filipa Thespian) or email me at filipathespian@yahoo.com to discuss your needs, goals and plans.

I greatly appreciate your time.

Sincerely,
Pips :)

There is also an SL Ballet company, but I do not know if they perform on-the-road or not.

At least a while ago, there was an SL Shakespeare Company. Ina Centuar is the name I associate with it, though I don't suppose that gives you a lot to go on. At the time, I think they had their own sim.

That may not be very much help... but I hope it's at least a little.
