Im just starting to dabble in clothing creation and need to know what version of Photoshop and/or Paint shop is needed for this. There are several versions of each product to get. What version is best for creating the textures needed for clothing? I know Paint Shop is much cheaper than some versions of Photoshop. Just not sure what type of Paintshop or Photoshop to get. Do I need a photo editing version or what? Any help or suggestions? Thanks!

on SL website you will find templates for clothing to download. The Texturing Tips Forum is probably the best place to ask this question too.

Well it work with Photoshop.cs vers. 8.0. It should work with older versions too just as long as that version has layers.

I have used paint shop pro and have successfully made clothing. If the program can create an alpha layer then it can be used. NCI has a class on basic clothing creation and covers using a paint program to accomplish this.
To find the dates and times, you can look on the events or teleport an the NCI area(s) and look at the gigantic board. Just type "NCI" in search and it will give you the landmarks. _____________________

Also, unless you will use your graphics program for anything else other than SL, I would use the freebie GIMP or something similar first.
Just in case you end up buying it and deciding that actually, clothing or texturing isn't for you. Then if you have tested it and know that you really enjoy creating clothing, then you could upgrade and invest in one of the other progams. Its better than spending on something you may not enjoy. _____________________

It doesn't really matter what type. There is a lengthy discussion in the Texturing Tips forum about the different programs. I know searching these forums sucks but the topic comes up so much it's not hard to find it. It's on page 2 or 3 at worst.

Either product will work fine.
Photoshop is excellent but is also very expensive. So if this is the only reason you need it I would look for a more reasonably priced product. I believe you can get a shareware version of Paintshop Pro that is good for 30 days or so to try it out for free. I know some clothing designers use Photoshop Elements, which is what I use for making alphas (tga files) for buildings and animals. _____________________
