Back in the day when you could make $L or USD bids on SL land via the auctions page, circa 2003/4, there were mistakes of this nature all the time.
You would see parcels bid for something like ten thousand US dollars, when it was pretty clear one or both bidding parties simply got confused, or didn't read or something - clearly they meant to bid $L 10,000 not 10,000 USD. Nothing ever came of those, save I think if you abused the auction process back then you would get a thwap on the noggin and they would suspend your auction capability or something if you messed up too many times. _____________________

Yea this cannot possibly be a 8000USD auction plot. They will likely revert the land to the next highest (legitimate) bid, or put it back on the block if the 2nd highest bidder no longer wants it.
