Can prims that are Transfer-allowed be transferred to a Group?

Hi,

I have a private sim, which is used for rental. The sim has a private beach which is for the use of the residents, and I wish to park some surfboards there for their use.

However, when I purchased some boards and parked them on the beach I was horrified to find that only me could use them (when I right-click the boards I get the 'Use' option in the pie menu. Other avis do not see this.

I have searched on slexchange for surfboards, and I see that some have the Transfer permission allowed. This got me thinking.

As my residents are all in my residents group, could the surfboards be transferred to the group instead of to an individual, or deeded in some way? That way, whenever they use their group title they could access these sorts of facilities.

Any advice appreciated.

Regards

Rock

Hi Rock

If your surfboards are both copy and transfer allowed the easy way is to either set them for sale at zero Lindens, or click the box that allows anyone to move/use them providing it is allowed by the script.

However in SL most "vehicle" type products are usually copy allowed and no transfer, some allow limited modify rights.

If that is the case you will need to find a script writer who is prepared to both create and sell to you a full permissions copy.

These scripts are quite complex, I have such a script myself (full permissions) it was given to me by a guy from Microsoft who wrote it as a hobby, (the script) is several pages long and quite complex as far as I can see

Hi Rock,

I don't think this has much to do with prim permissions as they do not affect the calls the scripts make to replace either "touch" or "sit" with other words such as "use". Scripts do their own checking and have their own ways of handling permissions. You should go back to the creator and ask for the scripts to be altered so those who share a group with you can use them.

Just my $L5's worth!

Hi Rock, I know a mature beach site that has free floating chairs. You select which colour and you rez them on the water and sit on and steer. Sounds just the script you want. I forget the name of the owner but he posts here sometimes. I can give you the name of the site though, Bella Boardwalk.

Set the board to group, then deed them. See if that helps.

Also try checking the 'Share with group'' checkbox. Either that or deeding to group should work, but I would try sharing them first, that way you retain ownership of the items.

Oh it appears though some error the last bit of my post did not make it......

If you want a copy of the script I mentioned let me know via IM and I will see what I can do, providing you give me a public assurance you will not sell it on as it is considered freeware
