I'm sure you girls know what I'm asking about. With huge skirts it's not so much of a minor annoyance, but with "normal" size skirts it is. You dance or just walk and your legs come through the skirt. As I said, it's a minor annoyance.
Would it be really difficult to fix this one day ?

Would it be really difficult to fix this one day ? Hi Nikki - there are two types of skirt in SL, system skirts and prim skirts. With system skirts you should have glitch pants which replicate the design of the skirt and are the same length. Them, when you move your legs are covered so that no skin shoes through. With prim skirts you might also have glitch pants, but if the design is quite full they may not be needed, although panties would! It depends on the type and style of the skirt. I hope this helps.

of course most flexi skirt makers use setting that are too flexi... I modify all of mine to a little more stiffness and drag, and don't have that problem for the most part... although twirls aren't quite as fluffy

I've disappointed a number of people by wearing the glitch pants that came with my kilt. I do wish the problem you describe could be cured another way - though I doubt it - as I bought a *thawb* (Arab men's robe) with *bisht* (long overcoat) in a different colour, so I can't wear it because the black thawb and glitch pants come through the grey bisht. As the thawb is a shirt-and-skirt combo, I either wear the complete thawb or just use the top part as a rather handsome embroidered black shirt. Win some, lose some.

From: Nikki Herrey Would it be really difficult to fix this one day ? It is hard because prim skirts don't interact with your skeleton. If you bend your legs in a real skirt, as in sitting, the skirt will follow the contours of your legs and drape down over your knees & calves (assuming it's that long). But with flexi prims, all they can really do is hang straight down from the attachment point (ie. pelvis, stomach, etc.). Some use "sitter" scripts to rotate the entire skirt 90 degrees which helps in some cases. Then there's the problem of the prims interacting with moving parts of your body which requires a lot of that physics stuff I know nuffin' about. In short, I don't think a fix is coming any time soon. System skirts more or less work correctly in following your movements but they do it by stretching (textures included) which isn't the same as how a real world skirt would work.

After seeing this post, I did a search for "thawb" in SL. Now, I own one, and I get to turn people on to some of the neatest clothing I've seen for a while. I think we should have "sari and sarong" day! So, I don't have a fix either, but thanks for the (inadvertent) link anyway. Oh, and to the two guys in the Pulp Fiction suits and big 'fros who immediately started screaming "terrorist" and worse when I TPed in wearing my new thawb and ghutra (headscarf), thanks for my daily dose of irony.

In 5 to 10 years when the filament technology is ubiquitous because everyone is on the newer nvidia cards that support the collisions needed for the right effect. Of course I doubt you will ever see it in SL. Probably will in the grid that replaces SL over the next 2 years as SL fades out.

LOL, some people really are that ignunt. If you like sarongs, I can also recommend the store Animations Rising, they have a very nice one you can customize for colour, as well as some pretty amazing men's dance silks (check out their "The Fallen" set - who knew dancing silks could be badass?) and other stuff. They cater specifically to men, which is nicer than prowling through miles of lingerie to find the three items in the store that are designed for men, as I often find myself doing. If you want to continue the sinister eastern look I'd recommend the Khimar set from the store Illusions. It's unisex, and looks like a Tuareg *tagelmoust/chèche* (men's turban and veil combo) on a man. The illustration shows the woman masked with the face veil and the man without it, but of course you can do as you like. One thing to note for traditionalists is that a female avatar would probably NOT wear the *agal* (headband, same as the one that keeps your ghutrah in place) - that's considered a man's look; if you look at women in hijab or niqab you'll see they don't wear agal.

Thanks, Alastair. I'll check those places out.
Totally off-topic, but it still surprises me how conservative much of the clothing created and worn (by human avatars, at least) in SL can be. If you want something other than the "fantasy clubber/gangster" look, it can be a challenge to find. That's why I really appreciating your inadvertently sending me to International House of Style, and I look forward to checking out Illusions as well.

I've actually considered wearing the Khimar set with the thawb for daily wear, partly because I have an intellectual interest in the sociology of veiling, especially in men veiling, and partly because I'm interested in what people's reactions will be. I have a feeling that gay men, in particular, will regard it as shockingly modest, even suspicious.

Are you implying that my Vincent and Jules wannabes were suffering simultaneous attacks of homosexual panic? (Oh, wait, that's *my* interpretation. Never mind.) Anyway, I have discovered wearing the thawb that some judicious work with the sliders can help the show-through on the skirt layer a fair amount. I'll have to try it with the bisht, though I seem to remember that you can't loosen jackets like you can shirts in Appearance. [edited because I couldn't find the at first]

I could be wrong, but I think you CAN make a jacket look looser by wearing it over a loose shirt, if you can't make the jacket itself looser. Worth a try, anyway, maybe.
