Realistic skin

In your opinion what is the best male skin on the market? the most realistic skin you ever saw...

I havent really checked out a lot of male skins, but I am biased to liking one from...uh...I think its Naughty Designs? Now I have to wait until my friend is online and ask if thats where he got his skin lol. By far, best looking one I have seen. Again though, being female, I dont know a lot about mens skins. Sorry

If realistic is your sole criterion, then I would say Second Skin Labs.

For girls X2 its the only one I like (I only wear those, so far i have never seen another one so realistic and with attention to detail, and yes I've searched ).

And they have male skins too so why not try the demo? They sure look great !

Especially that wild RL face on a SL Avatar thing Nam does.

I hated the X2 skin when I was shopping for my alt. (Female)

Too pink/ghastly. Look in the gallery forum for a thread started by Lexii Gynoid and look at all the pictures posted in there.

For men, the gold standard is Dante from Naughty Designs. It has been imitated and even stolen. A shame about that last part. Antonio from FNKY (I think) is the closest competitor in terms of looks, and is similar in appearance. Check also RaC (Raspberry and Cow). They have very impressive skins.

I'll vouche for the Second Skin Labs skins. One of very first high quality skins I bought in SL and I still keep goiing back to it after wearing other skins for a week or so. But, be careful what shape you put on with it......you can make that real looking face and body parts really look gross with the wrong shape!! Several of the "Mannequin" shapes (Suyura, specifically) work well with it though. Don't know about the male skins though.

Yes Namssor is well recognised as being in the front-line of realistic skins in SL.

The only slight problem I have with the OP, is that the "best" skin in SL is one question.
The most realistic is a totally different question.

"Best" implies a whole world of subjectivity.
"Realistic" suggests at least the ghost of some Objective Criteria.

My only problem with the SS Labs male skin is that Namssor basicly only has one skin to choose from, for the guys.

I'll have to look at the Naughty Designs skins. My SL Brother shopped around and found a few decent skins for male Humans, but there's nowhere near the selection that you find with most of the female skin lines.

Interstingly the skin I'm wearing is called Michael Photorealistic skin and the creator is down as Newbie Template Linden

Skins look wildly different on different shapes. So get your shape the way you want it, then go skin shopping.

Buy a pile of demos from different stores ... if you just read the thread referenced above, go to the top stores one after another and buy demos bangbangbang. Then go someplace alone and try them all on, one after another, nude, and vary the time of day when you find ones you like.

I have a face that I guess is unusual. Celestial Studio skins, Gala, and X2 all look wretched on me, though all are great skins. So really, just go to quality stores, and get demos.

I really like ED Designs skins - Don't quote me on the name, but it's close. Not at home =(
I've been skin shopping and still haven't found anything else I like. This is female BTW - I hate the way skins change the shape of my face, I have my face the way I want it shape wise. I really wish skins and make up didn't have that effect. Oh well! I don't know much about male skins but there are tons of places in search, just tp anywhere and get some Demos. That's what I do.

Still not a vast choice compared to other skin-makers.

I have the aforementioned Dante skin, and despite my self-made shape.......I did have moments when I felt like a clone.

SSL skins flirt with the "uncanny valley" effect at times, but the level of detail is unprecedented in SL, from what I have seen.

It is very difficult to divorce Skin from Shape. If you are totally sold on a shape, some great skins can still look bleuuuurgh on you.

Usually (but not always) this means the skin has been pirated/ripped and is being resold against the creators wishes. Nearly every well known or long standing skin artist (including myself) have had IP ripped and resold or given out for free. It is a blatant copyright violation, and this kind of behavior runs rampant in SL. The skin ripper uses a "Newbie Template Linden" name as a cover so as not to draw attention to their own avatar name and remain below the radar. A little sleuthing can uncover a lot! Once you find out who the REAL creator is PLEASE inform them, support them, so they can continue to create more stuff. The more everyone can be made aware of the tactics of content rippers the better off we will all be.

Have to agree with Dante.. and also the fact that a shape makes or breaks a skin.

My SO on SL has Dante, and so does one of our good and close friends, however, due to the differences in shape, colouring, and hair, the two look totally different.

I love some of the tiny assymetries, woven into your work.

I love the fact your stomach is muscled, but doesnt have a cartoony 6-pack that looks as though it has been drawn on by a 6 year old child with a crayon. .

Though I have some skins that make me look prettier, your skins have a higher testosterone per pixel qoutient.

Not every male in SL, wants to look like an effete model.

I appreciate all replies, I made as everyone said, bought like 30 diferent demos, then I went to my apt and try everything.... Good Life, Minnu, Naughty, RaC, The Abyss and lots and lots of others... but since I was rying to get one with some hairon chest I choose a good one from Minnu, it's great.... And BTW, I also bought one good shape on MADesigns


just editing with some other skin' brands I tryied: Aitui, Million Dollar, FNKY, Atramo, Damiani, Mac Ayres... I know that at the end I had about 30 demos to try lolol

No contest. It's Chip Midnight's CMFF skins. Seriously. Really really good. I have two.

there's a guy running a store called true skins, just opened at devilfish mall, all hand painted photorealistic stuff, he has more on the way really soon.

he also does prim eyes...pretty cool and different!

Well, now that I have a skin and shape that I really like what about flexy hair? I had also lots of demos but until now the ones that I like are from Naughty, any sugestions?
