Hello fellow forum dwelllers Was just checking the police blotter and again spotted the term "safe region". My curiosity has gotten the better of me. Can anyone tell me what that stands for please? Or is that just anywhere that´s not a combat zone? Signed, Confused

Odd thing is that I've been to music venues that are damage enabled. I wonder if it's just that the owners have forgotten to change the settings.
I always wonder what happens if you're warned or suspended for having what is referred to as an 'inappropriate avatar name'. You can't change it, so do you have to retire that avatar?

Thanks Cherry, I guess that explains why it comes up so often. Chas, maybe I should have called this thread "can anyone translate obscure phrases from the police blotter"

From: Chas Connolly I always wonder what happens if you're warned or suspended for having what is referred to as an 'inappropriate avatar name'. You can't change it, so do you have to retire that avatar? I allways wonder why one can't change your name. But must be a very difficult thing to arrange as Linden give the warning when you first sign up. One would have to open a new account to get new name. Then you must transfer your items from one to the other or you will be buying again. Of course start new before closing down old. But items that will not transfer will be lost and need rebuying, guess one must think carefully before going to the drastic lengths on new account. Love June

From: June Oh I allways wonder why one can't change your name. They can't be bothered to program it? I've never understood why you don't have a different login to your avatar name/password combination... hackers have half the problem solved straight before they begin. When you are talking about possibly thousands of dollars of land tied up with your avatar ID, surely that needs to be more secure than something with 100 gold pieces and an epic mount? In World of Warcraft... you have a login name and password, then you can select the character you wish to play from there. You can change your character name for a small fee. In Sims Online, you have a similar thing - and you can change your name as often as you want for free. It actually makes sense to have one login, and 5 "avatar slots" so you can have your alts safely tucked away together (with perhaps a fee to unlock another 5 slots?). It certainly has a precedent in online environments, and can be easily done by many other companies. The only problem? The fake 'signups/residents' figure won't be as high. Broccoli
