While just standing in any area there are waves of particles being generated at my feet and running up my avie's body. They are blue and look like a woman's skirt. They last for a few seconds. Also, some objects in the area (chairs, other avies, etc.) show the same thing. I do not own any particle generators and I have no idea where these are coming from. It seems like any kind of motion by an avie or by a prim starts this unwanted effect. What is happening and how do I eliminate it?
Thanks, BJ

Have you stepped in any "prim swim water" lately? A swimming pool or other body of prim water that could be used fior swimming?
There was a glitch for a while in certain versions of the prim swim water that caused the splash particle effects to follow you even after you left the area of the prims containing the splashable water script. Teleporting away usually fixed that glitch, until you stepped in that water again.

The unwanted effect has lasted for two days, during which time I have logged in and out at least 4 times. I don't recall being in any water......
I noticed that while using Camera Controls and spinning around the focus with my avie in a chair in the center of the focus, the wavey, skirt-like particles are generated continuously. While flying the particles are also generated continuously.

Are you sure these are particles? There have been a couple of threads about people getting flashing triangles on everything whenever they moved, or something. I think the problem turned out to be a graphics card glitch, so you could try turning down your graphics settings to see if it helps.
Can you post a pic?

Sounds like Show Updates is enabled...
You can disable it under the Advanced menu. If you don't have an Advanced menu, use ctrl-alt-d to enable it.

They removed the ctrl-alt-shift-u keyboard shortcut in the latest RC viewer.
Love the picture but the caption needs to be updated now. :\
edit: the Client menu got renamed to Advanced, too..

Meade, Thank You! I have no idea how "Show Updates" was turned on (cat walking on the keyboard?) but you were right! All is well again, in my SL.....for a while...!
