Will this affect my sim??

I opened my map this morning, and there's a new sim not far over from mine, and it's labelled "Sandbox", although it's offline still. The map looks like this:

My sim | void | Sandbox

The void is the width of a sim. If this truly is a sandbox, is my sim going to feel the effects?

No Its unlikely you are sharing the same server with that region. Physical grid location doesn't correlate with host server.

Yep. HUGELY unlikely that you're sharing a server.

As long as there's a simless spot between you and it, it's not impacting your sim at all.

What you WILL get is a constant stream of lookie-loos jumping in from seeing your sim close by on the map; sadly the presence of a sandbox is likely to attract griefers so expect some of those too, unless you've public access denied. If you don't, make sure you restrict create, scripts etc to your own group, turn off Push and of course Damage to off.Inc

I was griefed last night.

The usual - a fellow with a naughty name, dancing and doing naughty things with his avatar.

I could have hit ban/eject, or tipped off the Caledon group channel and had dozens of friends loaded for bear come by.

Instead, I said hello.

We got to talking, a little. He asked how I was doing - I was honest, and mentioned a few of the trials and constant headaches of land barony. For his part, it seems griefing just isn't quite what it used to be. Shame, that.

It got late, and we said goodnight. Ah, memories of wilder times... pretty soon, I think a right proper griefing is going to cost money.

Sandboxes get the reputation here on the forums as being the equivalent of one of Dante's levels of Hell. The lag and griefing issue is grossly exaggerated, in my opinion.

I cut a large region out of the edge of my city sims, built an airport, and call it "airport, sandbox, and vehicle testing area."

I love it, wouldn't do without it, and find the activities that go on there there to be what SL is all about.

If you are really in need of a proper greifing, I promise to offer rates below wholesale.

I have seen Sandboxes pop up next to my region before and remain off line. But looking again the next day it is moved and no longer there. Could be a map glitch too. I have seen this atleast 3 times..
Could be nothing to worry about.
