Sunrises/Sunsets & Draw Distance

Because I'm a curious kind of girl!!

If your draw distance is set to 64, 96, or 128 (or whatever SL seems to think you should have it set at), then on the ground you can only see that far. So, how come you can see sunrises/sunsets, which must be further away than that??? Is the sky on a different scale to the ground?

The sky and water is more like a backdrop than than the other items that get drawn on the display. The draw distance only affects prims, avatars, etc and not the backdrop. Just one of the many strange things about SL really.
