I've searched the knowledge base and the wiki and can get no answer to this. Is there a place where you can check your sim's class?

:)

From the KB on Private regions:

"If you would like to find out what server class your Region is running on, you can send a ticket with your request to Concierge Support via our Support Portal."

I guess if you don't have concierge support you are out of luck... but I bet there is some way of checking using a script... nika?

I was told of a way that is not 100% but gives you a good idea

now if I could only remember exactly what it was LOL

was something to do with the numbers you get when you do help about second life
sim4222.agni.lindenlab.com
this is from the about second life land info I am on right now

it has something to do with the sim #

I think (but not 100% sure) the higher the number the newer the sim which means very high would be class 5

sim4222.agni.lindenlab.com is a fairly new sim called avatar island, which I am pretty sure is a class 5

now ... what exactly does class mean? is it a hardware setting or just something SL uses to show it is newer supposedly better sims?

The "class" refers to the type of server the sim is on. Class 5 is the newest type of server SL has.

Class 5s debuted about 14+ months or so ago. When I got my first land in the third week of December, it was in Redspire, which was Class 5. Much of the southernmost continent of Jeogeot is Class 5. All of the eastern continents are Class 5. Private Islands.... good luck!

I don't think anything is under a class 4 now anyway
didn't they upgrade all the existing old stuff to class 4's?

(have to check the blog for the entry)

ahh so "class" is just an SL thing

PS I knew what class in SL meant, as far as servers, I just wondered if it was an SL claimed title or if class is a general term for server types everywhere
