Since over 40,000 people are online at the moment, and I've just been able to log in fine, could it be that the problem is rather is the side of your ISP than on LL's part?

its definatly not my end, theres nothing wrong with my connection, the message i get is..
"Unable to connect to Second Life (Nicholaz Edition), DNS could not be resolved the host name."
Is there a way to manually configure it? or a force login?
edit: the error comes up on the "Connecing to region..." bit, sometimes the "Initializing world..."
its not the sim as 2 people are there, trying to IM me about a problem with some building they want

From: Bradley Bracken I was able to log in without any trouble. Just so you know, LL does not read these forums. Hah! That is where you are wrong . Sometimes they do . For instance,if there is a serious problem logging in and a thread is discussing it or complaining about it sometimes a linden will post and describe what is being done about it. Elinah

From: Chaos Bikcin i dont know wheather LL read these forums or not, but Second Life's DNS server has gone down and i cant log in LL is using the DNS server as a backup for the rolling grid restart tomorrow and has moved several hundred sims over onto it so that might explain it.

Elinah Ok, yes, I've seen a post or two here from the Lindens, but it should not be considered an effective tool to communicate with them. Strife has a recent post somewhere acknowledging the Lindens no longer use the forums, as a general rule.

Before you connect can you go in preferences and change the region you are logging in to? (I have a vague recollection of seeing this mentioned somewhere...)

From: Bradley Bracken ...Just so you know, LL does not read these forums. They actually DO read the forums. They pay careful attention to the ones describing resident problems. They will even read them twice...and OUT LOUD...for their cubicle mates...especially if they concern someone being griefed...or losing lots of their inventory because of an asset-server problem. And then they laugh! Oh, MY...how they laugh. Some of them actually cry.

You might want to use search here on the forums and look up "DNS", there have been a few problems recently. Those threads might help if the probem persists.

It's not your system. They've been having issues today. Right now, logins are down.
