As there is a dispute over You tube and the playing of music videos...Im assuming that all You Tube players inworld will be defunct...for the time being?

(MOST obvious question of the day lol)

What's the definition of 'premium music videos'. Is it the official video for a song? What if someone makes their own vid with a track as backing, will that be blocked too? Reading the comments this just seems to be affecting the UK? Confusing.

Cross posted with Ee. Does that mean that if you are in the UK you could access the vids using a proxy? Wondering how they are going to implement this.

Interesting.
According to PRS's financials,
http://www.prsformusic.com/SiteCollectionDocuments/About%20MCPS-PRS/Alliance%20Financials%202007.pdf
they took for themselves nearly 11% (Page 7) of Sterling£562 Million collected in 2007 (Page 9)

There's a steady increase in the money they are collecting. No wonder they are so aggressive on the ground. Short-termism on speed!

It only matters if you're in England, and you're playing certain "premium" content in YouTube. Or you're in a parking garage and one of your customers is playing a radio in their car.

Ugh, reminds me of the Napster v. Metallica kerfuffle.

I like Issa's approach instead. You like, you pay.

I do think it got out of hand with free downloading and I think record companies broke too many artists over the years (They Shoot Horses, Don't They?) nickel/diming them. I think artists should sell from their own websites cutting out middle men. But I also think real artists have sliding scales and things for those who love what they do. Yeh I'm one of those 'art should be free' idealists, even though I know artists gotta eat too.

But some 'artists' are corporate jocks in disguise.
