So, I am leasing a piece of land from a Sim I live on. My RL husband and I both are utilizing the land and we both have 'partners' or mates. (Shush peanut gallery!)
Heres the thing...I'd like all four of us to be about to set the space as their 'home'. I've checked that its okay to create landmarks, but they are still not able to set their home there.

Whats the next step? Do I need to make a group and 'give' the land to the group?

 I suggest your next step is to sell the rights to your story to Hollywood, The National Enquirer or anyone else that I am sure would be fascinated by the balancing act of your domestic relationships! :p

Pep (That should pay rental on the land for quite some time . . . :D )

Make a group, set the land to that group (not deed), create a role in the group which permits members of that role to set home. Next invite them to the group and give them that role. That will solve it.

Unless something has been changed recently, no, the land does have to be DEEDED to the group for the "set home to here" group role permission to work. Most of the group roles can only be applied to the owner of the land, or to members in suitable roles in a group that OWNS the land - IE that has had the land deeded to that group.

Is it broke?

I ran into the same situation last night at my rentals. People are now unable to set their Home there even though they are in the group and roles set to allow that ability. The land is in my name. Maybe something has changed. I don’t really want to deed that land to that group just for this reason. If Group permissions get wonky I could have renters suddenly becoming owners.

It should work with just setting it to group, not deeding, however if this is buggy atm and you are allowed to subdivide:
take out a 16m2 plot
deed to group
let them set home there,
then sell that piece back to yourself from the group.

Home position stays even if land is sold.

Land does not need to be Deeded to Group

I have a group that I created so my alts would have a place to call home. I own the land and have it set to group, not deeded to the group and my alts and all group members can set home locations to my land.

Yeah same here. But last night it wasn’t working.
When I get back into SL I’ll fuss with it some more, but if anyone who is in world wants to give it a try now that would be great.
I have had lapses of clarity in the past and this could just boil down to me trying to do something too late in the evening. :o

Mainland? Or private island sim? I wonder if it makes a difference.

Maybe they finally fixed that. People were complaining about it for a really long time.

Setting home to group-set land seems to have been fixed with Server 1.19.1, per http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-404. I've been seeing sporadically massive group-info delays the past few days so maybe things are just wedged, but it's supposed to work.

Thank you, Qie, for clarifying that.
