Hi Everyone! I will try to make this short and sweet. I have a business that I want to advertise in world, in many locations that have high traffic. What I need to know is do any of you know of any good places to advertise? Or know of any good, honest advertising agencies? Thanks everyone!

What I need to know is do any of you know of any good places to advertise? Or know of any good, honest advertising agencies? Thanks everyone! My advice: Don't bother with an agency. See how other people word their ads and take hints from them. Post to the appropriate forum here and purchase a reasonably priced classified ad inworld. Never invest in a company that specializes in spinning ads on 16 meter plots of mainland: most residents hate those eyesores that ruin the mainland and will boycott your business. They are not affective as far as getting traffic anyway.

Thank you for the advice Raymond. I have a lot of ads written up already, just trying to find good places to put them. Have seen many places claim they have high traffic, and then I go the land and they are. just as you have said, spinning ads...ugh!
I will keep searching!
Thanks again!

Is it a place you want to advertise or items for sale? If the latter, maybe search for places with a related theme and see if they have advertising options. (Disclaimer: just a thought ...... I know zilch about advertising)

Hi Sally thanks for the reply. It is a place I want to advertise, not items, but I am also looking for vendors as well for the land so I am looking to place all of that info in an advert I am trying different SL magazines as well...been working on finding things in world for over 4 hours today and many hours previous days so I kind of need a break!

They might be a good venue actually. I read the occasional Avastar and their ads are always nicely done and very visible

Heres a sure-fire way to get people to not ignore your ad:
Get the ad printed as a tattoo.
Put it on the underwear layer.
And pay strippers to advertise on their bottoms.

It is important to recognise here that the majority of in-world advertising agencies are a big con for their customers - they may try to bamboozle you with statistics regarding clicks and views and so on, but basically, if they rely on the usual 16m2 ad plots spread throughout the mainland, all they do is annoy residents. I would not bother at all.
Instead, I would advertise on this forum and third-party forums... look at the popular blogs and publications and advertise there... and ideally, start up your own blog and update list as soon as possible, so that people who like the style of your business can be quickly informed of new developments.

Collette, omg I needed that laugh that was priceless!
Ordinal, you have a very good point. I think I will look into doing that. It sounds logical and painless, compared to searching for billboards in SL!
Thanks!

Expanding on Ms Malaprop's excellent suggestion, you may also want to start a catchy web page and advertise the name in your place and elsewhere.
Most importantly, stay away from anybody offering to advertise in 16 sq ad parcels. Going to bed with this lot will get you on many people's "must avoid" lists.
Finally, will all due respect for your enthusiasm, I recommend to take a long view of it. People will accumulate slowly; it takes time for the word of mouth to disperse.

You could contact a land dealer and ask them to put up billboard style ads on their land for sale. Obviously when the land is sold the ad will be returned to you but if it's a low cost deal you cut you'll get some exposure.

It's possible you might find it worthwhile to be a sponsor at places like NCI or the Shelter.
They put up ads of various size and nature for various sponsors. I notice some of the ads every time I drop by one of these places.

Depends what you're trying to sell, but I found a cheap classified ad helped plenty. However, in my case my product on the classified is still fairly unique, that is; people looking for the product will almost always find it since there isn't much competition.
However, I think the key to effective classifieds is identifying what makes your products(s) unique, and what your product(s) have that customers may be looking for, and which competitors may not provide them with. Then all you have to do is put the focus of your ad (and your parcel description etc.) into that, and you will hopefully then get a good place in search results for such products.
Another thing I find effective is to give out freebies to people/friends you know will really like your products, perhaps at an opening event for example. Word-of-mouth can be a very powerful advertising tool in SL as people who like your products will recommend (or show) them to friends who then hopefully do the same.

Considering the amount of real estate some SL strippers have, a Breast Advertisement might work pretty well also, specially for the large ads.

Use a classified ad. I'm not going to give away my strategy, but play around with classifieds and you'll figure out how to make them work for you.
Walk around in shopping areas that you like, and find ad space there where you can pay the sign and put in your ad and notecards. Those are usually cheap. They are also usually in a commercial area where ads are expected, so you won't be a party to ad farm extortion. But pretend you're just a customer, and try to notice what you pay attention to and what you ignore.
Put an ad in the forums since it's free. But do take a look at the numbers of hits those ads actually get: they are statistically so close to zero, no one should be recommending that as an effective ad strategy. But since they're free, you have nothing to lose but your time. Ads with an attachment usually get more hits than those without.

Could add some xcite like attachment to the exotic dancer so when they click the portion the ad is near it gives them a note-card and a landmark ..

You could use some in-world self-serve ad spaces. Prices and traffic varies but can offer good value when you are just starting out or need to advertise for relatively short periods of time.
These ad spaces are often a one prim vendor of sorts that allow you to put a texture and notecard in them. You pay the vendor a weekly fee.
I use these and have had good results during the past month.
I also have a number of really cheap ad spaces available - all roadside. The ads are mainly located throughout the Cristat mainland sim.

You may have gotten this answer already, but try Your very own profile. and especially the picks section. it costs nothing and you are a walking advertisment.
