Somewhat patchy results! I've seen this on odd occasions recently, and sometimes black or randomly coloured bars across skin and clothes. A rebake sorts it out, but a TP sometimes brings it back. I'd seen the coloured patches on avs before, going way back, but transparent is new to me. Emerald viewer, WinXP, GeForce 9800GT. Anyone getting similar problems?

this is been happening since they upgraded...
"sigh" saw it again for the first time in a while to somone wearing a newbie skin.
rebake works for me when it happens.
I notice it happening a lot to the free skins... though.

It might have been happening and I haven't noticed. I was camming round this time because I'd just bought a new skin.

I saw it in the latest build of Emerald. It's pretty random and rebaking fixes it. For the time being, I'm still Cool Viewer dedicate. I still prefer the pre-voice UI buttons and slightly higher observed FPS. (^_^)y

*looks at the pic* You know what that looks like? It looks like you have a skin with an alpha channel so the base pigments can bleed through to allow some "adjustments."
And that looks like the basic alpha sorting issue biting us for using them!

The skin I used previously was alpha, and I've never noticed this problem with it. This skin *may* be alpha, but as it's no-mod, I can't twiddle the sliders to find out.

Yeh, but, the alpha tattoo layer gets backed onto a non-alpha Linden skin layer, so the baked layer should be non-alpha.

From: Lightwave Valkyrie this is better than the stealth prim hack that worked and they removed ?? It will be. For now, we have a "render avatar invisible" debug setting. Emerald treats it with a checkbox under the Emerald >> Avatar preferences. (^_^) What will come beyond that will be the ability to go transparent using a UV texture applied to prim attachments. From the looks of things it will be boolean on the luminance of a texture based on the same UV outlines of the avatar mesh. I also presume that the head, top, and bottom positions will be determined by attachment point so that multiple texture dialogues won't be needed. (^_^) Of course, this is all just second-hand info gathering. But, I'll be optimistic for now. (^_^)y

Um, what? I have never seen any Linden say it would be associated with prim attachments. They said it would be a new wearable, and it would be bundled with the ability to apply ANY wearable to ANY compatible clothing layer... so that tattoo you have on the jacket layer because the creator was an idiot will be able to be applied to the undershirt layer instead.

I need to search again. There was a demo-tutorial that one of the Lindens posted showing an extra texture option for attached prims. When you wear the prim, it will overlay ~all~ layers with the 'alpha' UV placed in that texture option. Not unlike including invisiprims in a built attachment. (^_^) I'm sure it's been linked in the Jira somewhere. (>_<

OK, I forgot about that debate. Because they changed their minds: From: nyx linden Alpha masks will be a wearable (clothing) item and thus won't need to be linked to prims or take up an attachment point. However, we are making some changes to allow you to wear multiple alpha mask items at the same time.

A necropost that actually delivers? Say it ain't so!
*looks at the images* Actually, the method demonstrated would be perfect for full prim avatars like dragons. Though, I think I'd just rather have an alpha skin layer, because then I don't have to see my deformed, hideous shape...
