Beta Grid Access?

Does anyone have a link to the download for the Beta Grid? Is it still available? The Grid you can use to test uploading textures etc? I may have a severe inventory loss and I'm hoping accessing the beta grid could help. I used to have it but no longer. I cannot find it on the download page.

Oh and anyone have a SLurl to a really really quiet, low lag place for me to stand and let my inventory load? Its taking F O R E V E R

The het grid thing works now. We don't need special beta viewers any more. At the login screen on the regular SL client, press shift-ctrl-G and a menu of grids will pop up. For the public beta grid, choose Aditi. For the live grid, use Agni. And that is that!

I don't think there's a special client for the Beta grid at this time. I've been logging in using the standard client.

At the login screen, press CTRL-SHIFT-G and a pull down menu will appear. Select Aditi for the Beta grid.

Thanks ... Just noticed a reply from another thread that will also help .. , here's hoping it was a temporary loss of inventory. Going to give it a few more mins of loading this and then relog and try whats been suggested, thanks guys!

Well after a very slow inventory load .. it appears i'm back to what I had earlier .. can we say *phew* ... I was down by 3K, now back up to normal so i no longer need the beta grid, but the tips here have been very very useful, so, thanks a lot

According to the Status page (man, they're busy today!) inventory maintenance is scheduled for this coming Thursday:

Spot the deliberate error on the page. The post title states it's going to happen this Thursday (20th) but the body of the text says it will happen *last* Thursday (13th). Guess someone was looking at the wrong week on the calendar when they typed that.

while this thread is still alive about the beta grid, I have another question .. Land Purchases .. How do people own land on the beta grid? and why do people own land on the beta grid? Thanks

How? I think you've got to contact Prospero Linden to get your sim added (not sure how it works for mainland).
Why? You can't test anything that relies on land permissions without owning land. You've also got to have adequate land space available to build everything that you need to test out, but I think there's several sandboxes set up.

The beta grid is a mirror image of the main grid, so the land you see there is already owned on the main grid, you can't buy land there directly and everything else Argos said.

If you have specific real needs for testing the Lindens will make it so.

So if I see land say for sale on the beta grid for 11L being sold by a Linden, though all transactions stay on the beta grid and do not cross over, how does that work?

It doesn't. Everything that happens on the beta grid stays on the beta grid, the two don't mix.

Examples, you have 1000 Lindens on the main grid, the beta grid is updated you go on, your account shows you have 11,000 Lindens and you spend 1000 on texture uploads to test them, balance is now 10,000 again. Don't go into beta for a week in the meantime your Lindens on the main grid is increased to 5000 Lindens, you go back to beta and the balance there is still 10,000, not 15,000 because that info hasn't been captured.

If you buy land on the beta grid, which I doubt could happen anyways, when the beta grid is updated that land will just belong to the original main land owner again.

Thanks Dekka .. I went to a parcel of land owned by a Linden (can't recall first name now) and it wass et for sale for 11L, I never tried to buy, but what you said makes a lot of sense, especially since it updates. I was just thinking it would be nice to own a parcel on the beta grid to build large structures on, though it would be a real pita if I wanted to recreate on the regular grid, as my memory isn't so good
