i am curious, I just got this spam in my open chat as I was sitting alone in my own venue no one else on sim... 98% of the stuff I made and this is not from anything I have in here) [13:48] FREE metaKIOSK invitation: Pick up a FREE metaKIOSK today. DJs, live entertainment, giveaways & more. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Monogramia%20Prime/239/214/33Was in green text to So, this did not come from a group I am in that I can see, no group window opened... how the heck did someone get it into my open chat? Is it a legit thing? I am just curious cause have no idea where it came from. |

Object IMs don't appear in their own IM tab, they just show up in the normal chat history window.

it is possible (sad but possible) that someone added you to a group like the hippo groups, and spammed you that way
legit, I would say no, as it would be harressment

If you have it in 3D, please don't send me one ... eww! I am now remembering that it was you who told me where to get urban grunge textures  ) Green chat is actually an IM sent by an object to you. So, someone somewhere got your avatar's name, and has an advertising box that spews out messages to avatars whenever they're online. Frequently these advertising boxes send messages to all nearby avatars, so if it keeps happening you might want to check around for some scripted object near you. Recently, however, people have begun running these off of lists of names that they glean from random groups or via bots at large events. In this case, it probably won't happen again (much!) unless you somehow respond. . |
