Brand new system p5/new graphics card nvidia 8600 512 ..2gb ram... newly reformatted. Every where i go except SL is just fine. The moment i log into SL I lock up solid. Can do nothing but hit restart. Does anyone know what else i can do to prevent this. I have updated the graphic drives.. have uninstalled/reinstalled SL a few times now.. same outcome. I clean my cache before attempting to log in. There are times i can stay in SL for about 20 minutes then i freeze up again. Others i don't even get to land before i have locked up. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr its frustrating. Please help

Oh, and which clients have you tried? (This shouldn't happen on any of them, but if it's happening on the WindLight "first look" only, it would be informative.)

I have tried it on all but windlight. didn't see much point in attempting that one. Oh btw.. using a Sata hd. Which also shouldn't make much difference. Like i said .. i can go anywhere else on the net but log into SL.

Hi Blues,

Do you know what motherboard/chipset you have? If not, download the trial version of Everest and let us know.

What sort of internet connection do you have? Wireless? Cable? DSL?

In Edit/Preferences, try lowering your bandwidth setting in the Network tab... maybe you're swamping your connection?

Quite right. I'm still suspecting something graphics-related, based on the hard lock-up and the fact only SL is giving you trouble (it's probably the most OpenGL-intensive thing you've tried). If I knew anything about the nVidia control panel on Windows, I'd probably suggest tweaking something there.

Self-appointed forum moderator alert!

I'd ask this question down in the Technical forum.

Also, which cable operator? Some are notorious for throttling high bandwidth customers....
