ok, at the risk of seeming noobish....

How does one start a jira ticket? SL's site is not user-friendly. (duh)

Head on over to http://jira.secondlife.com. In the top right is a link to log-in, click that and enter your Second Life username (full, ie; Haravikk Mistral) and password (always make sure the URL is a secondlife.com URL first).

Now, just hit the "Create Issue" option near the top and you should be able to create one fairly easily. Be sure to search first though in case what you want to add is already there in some form!

Hi Anna! What's your issue that you want to start? Chance are, it's already there, but it might take some searching.

If your issue isn't there, you need to first login to the JIRA system up on the upper right corner (in really small letters!) Use your SL avatar name and password. Once you're in, on the horizontal menu, you'll see "Create New Issue" and go from there. But double check on your issue first. What is it, exactly?

Thanks for the replies.

I want to start a ticket to have banned parcels show red in minimap. Your prims can show blue, other's prims show grey, people are green... why can't they add red?

Good suggestion! That would go into the VWR (SL Viewer) section. I searched on it and couldn't find any sort of similar suggestion.

Brilliant suggestion. Would even help when trying to fly, or drive, or walk. :)

One problem - they already use red for something or other. Not exactly sure what, but most of the time I see red, the region is just about to die, or is dead.

I'm curious, does anyone know if there is a person or system to periodically go through and combine duplicate requests? I would imagine it'd be a helluva task since wording can be so different, however, I'd think there'd be lots of duplicate requests floating around that aren't getting the numbers they should by splitting votes.

JIRA bugs are reviewed weekly by actual humans in a marathon triage meeting. Duplicates are closed with the resolution of "Duplicate", and a referral to the bug they duplicate. A backward reference is also put into the original bug.

If you look at a popular bug (e.g. SVC-114, inventory loss), you'll see that a whole stack of other bugs have been marked as duplicates of it.

Wouldn't it be easier for the reviewers if they could sit instead of having to run around while reviewing the bugs?

If you're familiar enough with the JIRA platform and are familiar with what issues currently exist, you can mark issues as duplicates and close them, pointing users to the "real" issues, you can combine issues as sub-tasks, etc etc. It's a matter of us all policing ourselves so that the LL programmers don't have to, and they can fly through the issues in the triage meetings.
