I see some mention of using the Release Candidate viewer from time to time. It's old, isn't it, at least as of 12-30-09? Is there any benefit to it? Why would people be using it instead of the the Release viewer?

Before I started using Emerald and Snowglobe, I went from the current official release back to the Release Candidate. There is a small difference in the build numbers, but for some reason the older build worked better for me, performance-wise.

Similar reasons to LittleMe, when the official version was released I saw a lot of complaints, a Linden said there was no difference but as the release candidate was working fine for me I stuck with it and I'm still using it.

I've always had a bit of a sneaky suspicion that a lot of problems people have are actually caused by some obscure thing they turned on/off in menus (or a debug setting) or something that carried over from previous versions.

Since the RC uses its own separate settings file it might seem to some people that it's better than the release even though they're both the exact same code-wise.

(LL should really add a simple "Revert settings to default" option somewhere)
