Hi there,
I've set up a new sim called 'Daydream Island' that is both beautiful and romantic.
I'm exploring all advertising methods so people get to know its out there. In addition to a classified listing, I was wondering about a Voting Box (where people get to vote for this place).
Can anyone tell me if Voting Boxes are a worthwhile approach? Do they genuinely help spread the word and increase traffic? Is there one vote box type that's better than the rest, eg most popular or largest audience/group? Does Linden have its own voting box system, other than traffic counting? Are all vote boxes free? I tried B-something today but couldn't log into it to get started.
Also, other than running events and posting a classified ad, any other cheap and effective promotional ideas people would like to share would be appreciated. i work full time irl so time consuming ideas are not possible for me.
Many thanks, Carmsie

I always ignore voting boxes. Add an advertisement with slurl in your forum sig. Offer an incentive for people to add it to their Profile Picks.

Yep, the voting boxes have done nothing but eat prim counts over the past few years. http://secondlife.wikia.com/wiki/Voting_Stations

A lot of them have started spamming the error channel recently. Seems to be some texture error caused by a broken HTTP response.
