When you're just given the basic address (not a Slurl link or landmark) - for example: Headtrip 47, 29, 32 - is there an easier way than pasting the name into one box in the world map and the three numbers separately into the three co-ordinate boxes?
Can't you just copy and paste the whole thing in somewhere in one fell swoop?
Honestly, I've figured most things out on my own but this has me baffled - there has to be an easier way.

Sorry best way is have someone copy the SLUR from the map and send you that - they can then copy it to the clipboard and paste it to you from there. Teach them this it will save them the typing and make things easy on you as well

If you get it as a slurl, like this: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Somewhere/1/1/1You can double click it to go there if its in your chat history. You can also make landmarks, and send them to people, to do travel... You can finally type the coords in, and then have your map go there, and click at the bottom to have it make a slurl, and then paste that into chat - a way to send coords of a place to people if you lack a LM there (sometimes I IM my alts with coords this way - since I save chat history, I log into the alt and there it is). Lastly, you can make slurls by going to slurl.com.

You can just make it a SLurl. Like this: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Headtrip/47/29/32(Normally without the ?. That's just there to make the img-tag thingy work.)

While it'd be fairly simple to make a script that'd listen for something like that copied and pasted into chat and then open the map at that particular location, it would probably take longer to find the scripted object in your inventory, rez or attach it, and copy and paste the text into chat than it would doing it the hard way.
I'd suggest that you approach the poster of these messages and ask them nicely to either include an slurl in the message, or to include an actual landmark as an attachment to the message.

When you read something like this just chat it as a SLURL. It will appear as a clickable link in chat-history. So: Read Headtrip 47, 29, 32 Chat http://slurl.com/secondlife/Headtrip/47/29/32Click the SLURL in chat-history

Thanks for your replies - so basically there isn't a quick way.
I know slurls appear as a hyperlink in chat but I thought there must be a shortcut - like typing '/url' or '/lm' then copy and pasting the region name and co-ordinates - rather than typing out the whole long prefix everytime.

You can also get the SLURL by locating the point on the world map in-world and clicking "copy location to clipboard". You do have to click on the map before doing that, just bringing up the map and clicking won't copy your current location.
