When I'm working on editing an object from my inventory, I often like to save it back to my inventory as I'm working on it. I have always used the "Tools/Save Object Back To My Inventory" menu item for this save operation. Otherwise, I have to delete the object from my inventory and 'Take' the updated object. It's kind of a pain.
In the last two or three days, however, when I try to save an object back to my inventory in this way, I have been getting an error message: "Save Back to Inventory has been disabled." What's up with this? Has anyone else been getting this message? It seems to have started after the recent rolling restart cycle, but who knows?
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Edit: Most of us are shown via tutorial to use the "take copy" which puts copies of an item into our inventories. I usually number my skirts in the process of making changes, such as 1.1 and 1.2.. so that I can "roll back," if I make a change that I simply do not like.
I never used the "save back to inventory" and honestly, didn't know it existed.
Edit: Come to think of it, I use it because I'm already selected the object and it's just as easy for me to right-button it to bring up the pie chart.

Like Raudf, my standard practice has been to rename the in-world item I am working on, adding some sort of version number, and do a "Take Copy", so I have backups of each stage of development. I never use the "Save back to inventory" feature.

They did. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Server/1.25To whit: From: someone Remove "Save Object Back to My Inventory" features -- this feature didn't always work as expected, and was the source of some confusion and potential content loss. Actually, Save Object worked just fine, if you knew how to use it. As long as you were careful not to do it when there was a chance for another asset overwrite (such as Save Object on an in-world copy while an inventory copy was worn). Way to go. This was a huge time saver for me and now it's gone.

And it was a nice way to keep your inventory from becoming cluttered with multiple copies of the same object. You always knew the copy in your inventory was the latest version. I am going to miss it terribly...

I just noticed it was missing, today.
Torley had a tutorial video that included it.. i guess that's out of date, now.
