How to fix fonts in the SL Viewer?

This appears to be different from the font issues some people have been talking about lately. I am very familiar with the corrupted fonts on the menu bar, but on this new notebook with Intel graphics at my screen's native resolution, the text in a lot of UI elements in the viewer is so chunky it's almost unreadable. Ironically my menu bar looks just fine (except for search).

Does anyone know how to fix this? The picture shows that only some text is messed up.

What operating system?

Do you have the latest video drivers?

You might try changing the UI Size slightly, and checking and unchecking the Use resolution independent scale.

Those are just off the top of the head guesses.

I had the same problem on a wide screen laptop. I solved it by increasing FontScreenDPI fom 96 to 100 in the Debug Settings.

I have that same problem on my laptop, have not used the laptop since I was in the hospital.

I should boot it up and try the fix mentioned above and see if that helps.

Crazy. Apparently UI size 0.975 is the magic number for my system. It was originally 1.0 (at 1.0 the fonts were messed up). Never played with that setting before.

I don't know if this is useful info or not, but most of my SL font-rendering problems seem to have gone away when I swapped out their default fonts for some other ones. Specifically, the fontset that is used by the Imprudence viewer. I like the look of those fonts better, it was later that I realized that I hadn't noticed any font rendering problems in some time...

I have always had font problems in SL unless I uncheck the resolution-independent scale box. On both nVidia and ATI graphics. Not as extreme as this example, but bad enough to make them annoying.

That's exactly what my Dell widescreen laptop looks like in SL. I always just lived with it. I'll tweak the UI and see if it fixes mine, too.

Thanks for the post.
