I was under the impression that full sims are 2 per cpu (server) and the homesteads were 4 per server....

On searching on a boredom binge I found a webpage with statistics from my sims.

IP address and whatnot...

What suprised me is there are 3 other Regions sharing server with my full sim..... This confuses me and I am almost certain I read it was 2 per server...

Does this mean one server with 2 cpu's? making the 4?

Also, my homestead has 6 (mine = 7) regions sharing server... which I thought only 4 shared..... even split, thats not adding up right to me...

I am really confused and this website sure looks authentic...... lots of other stats for SL...

this is from a place called obijan technologies.

ty for any input on this.

There is 1 full sim to a core. So on a quad core server there is 4 sims.

I think there are 4 homestead sims to a core. So 16 to a quad core server.

Keep in mind they use virtualization. This means the sims on each core can not affect each other. One could completely crash, operating system and all, and the other sim would be fine.

Dante. That sounds wrong to me, but I'm not up on things so I don't know. Are you saying that each cpu core has it's own full operating system? My machine is a dual-core, which I understand means that each core can run different programmes, but there is only one operating system.

Server systems like this run a small base OS in which everything else runs in a virtual machine. Most large hosting companies use similar systems (often not telling there clients they are not actually getting there own physical server >_>;)

I can actually say what you have said here is very true. Slightly guilty of that myself.

removed a few key words because even us small guys do it. :)
