I searched the forum and didn't see this mentioned. I've got someone receiving group IMs from my bands group, but the person isn't in the group and said she hadn't joined it. I triple checked the members list, she's definitely not in there. Anyone run into this before?

yes..i get a lot from dancers spamming thier clubs using their contact list..they don't have to be in a friends list ..just the contact cards.

Just to clarify, this was in an IM I sent to the group (as opposed to a friends conference), and the person responded in the group IM as though a member of the group.

Those notices are like playing ZUMA or something, it is kind of fun, log onto SL, and click all the notices as quickly as possible.

I wonder if SL has any kind of hud or other program to automatically kill the stupid blue windows that are so pesky?
ON the other hand, I kind of enjoy the SL version of ZUMA.

And yes, the dance clubs are HORRIBLE about stupid notices.

Yeah responded in the IM, weird. "Why am I getting this, I am not in the group?"

Just in case you have not tried it ... did you ask the person to join the group and then leave again?

Not yet, that was my first thought too but I wanted to see if anyone had seen this happen before, as it's a new avatar and unlikely that she would have somehow joined the group and dropped it without knowing. The group gets chatty sometimes and I wouldn't want this to bloom into a bigger annoyance for people. I'll have her join it and then remove her and hopefully that'll do it. I don't know how the IM system works, but it's a little concerning that someone would find themselves in a group conference for a group they didn't belong to.

are you sure it was not a copy and pasted message from a group IM??
was it an advertisement for the band where you saw the chat and the group name on the window..i remember getting group IM's that i was in the group but the person making the IM's name would show up instead of the group name..but that was a real old bug..

strange..could be a new bug even hehehehe

Yeah, no I am sure. The timeline was I posted a group notice about a show cancellation for tonight, my bandmate has the flu. A couple of the group members wrote in IM that they hoped she'd feel better, and the avatar who wasn't in the group responded in the IM "why am I getting these?" This all happened in just a minute or two.

If she had dropped the group and the member list hadn't caught up with the change prior to the IM I could understand it, but she said she was never in the group and I have no reason to doubt it. If someone's not in the member list, I don't see how they can send and receive IMs to the group.

On the other hand, the moon is full and the weekend is almost on us. Batten down the grid!

I have not seen that, but I have relogged from a crash and found IMs to another person had somehow ended up with me, I guess addressing can sometimes get confused.

perhaps you came across the 1 in 2^128 ~= 10^38 chance of generating the same UUID as someone else.

Hmm, there's nothing really helpful there, but thanks for pasting.
