My friend is making viewer changes to SL's viewer. I mentioned how much I loved the previews of textures and the building tools in the Sims and I wish there was something similar here. The problem is one my friend has never played the Sims and asked for screen shots of what it looks like when you're in build mode and the texture viewer screen shots in Sims. Anyone able to help me out with some screen shots of this cause my boyfriend got my old version and I don't know if he could make screen shots for me P.S. it may not be possible nor exactly same but my fantasy would be way to preview textures in new way and have some new user friendly built in building tools....but friend said it may not be possible because of somethings being on server side.

This would be great lol.
I have the Sims Life Stories. Will that do? Or I'll have to fire up my huge dock-off PC to get to my Sims2. I'll see if I can get you a decent screenshot FD. any particular type of texture/building tool option? I'll just get a mix for ya. You may have to teach me how to get them to you though...

I tried to go the official site they had no screen shots of things in building or the texturing mode. And truthfully I couldn't figure out how to google it right that why I asked for help. I played original sims never played The Sims 2 is it similar in building or texturing mode? I want the shot of texture viewer in build mode and building feature shows wall or window being installed. My dream would be to have SL viewer version of this for those of us who aren't all that skilled with building or learning and need training wheels but I don't if it would be possible. I am not familar with your version. Is it similar? I sort of miss the need bar too. I wouldn't mind having my own customized need/mood bar in SL. I guess I must been tired I found something I wanted at http://sims.stratics.com/content/gameplay/build_guides/build_mode/Thanks for the suggestions.

Sims2 building is pretty much the same as the original except you have a few extras like aspiration, fears and a life expectancy on the bottom bar with the needs. The build mode is still practically the same though. Think it just looks a bit smoother - can't reall remember too well. I'm glad you found what you needed though Good luck with the changes

in sims2 building walls is accomplished by dragging the tool along the grid. there are no prims involved, so i dont think this can be mimicked in sl. heres a building tutorial that has some screens in it that may be useful: http://au.guides.ign.com/guides/564180/page_3.html

I'm a Sims 2 builder. There's not really a texture mode, per se. You choose a wall or floor or terrain paint from a catalog. The real custom texture work comes from using Homecrafter, an additional free program available on the Sims2 website. You then import your new textured item into the game. There is also 3-d texturing tool (bu Numerator)...unsupported by Maxis, but very effective. If you want I can take a few screen shots in building mode for you.
Or I can point to some tutorials showing build modes. There are many good tutorials out there.

Thanks for advise. I wanted to show my friend screen shots of building tools and how the textures are displayed in The Sims. I am not sure if its possible on SL modifiable client side to add things like builder tools, texture viewers or need bars. I am not sure if could be reproduced via client modified viewer or if my friend would even know how but there are certain things I wish SL build and texture mode had built in that wouldn't require additional tools or a hud. All this talk sort of has made me start missing making content for The Sims. I had up to Hot Date years ago pre XP and fan base tools quit working for me. I loved using homecrafter and making walls, and I started doing little 3d content back then but its been almost 4 years since I played TSO beta really burned me out. I have been thinking for playing with design ideas that could be transferred into SL is there a version of The Sims I could buy that would be useful someone would recommend or is there? I am aware we do things different just was wondering if there is way to make building prims bit more easier like when one uses like Prim finder but for inworld building. Friend mentioned something technical saying it might not be possible that I didn't understand. Anyway I searched for bu Numerator found lot of things on math but nothing related to the sims. This is example of my own personal need displayer I haven't yet figured out how to get it into something workable that could be used inside SL.

From: FD Spark Thanks for advise. Anyway I searched for bu Numerator found lot of things on math but nothing related to the sims. I meant Numenor, not Numerator. He makes some modding tools, as well as a color enabler package that's essential. modthesims2.com has many modding tools also. Here's a link to a nice groups of building tutorials: http://mikeinside.modthesims2.com/
