Hey all, I've been using SLeek for a couple of days now while at work. Our internet in the office is too slow to deal with downloading the graphics and all that - So I jumped to text only for chat (not to mention that I shouldn't be on SL in the office - even though I'll sit here for 3 hours sometimes with NOTHING to do)..

but... a) it crashes sometimes... b) no message when I get an item.. c) can't view groups or do group IMs - there are times I need to send a group notice during these hours and can't... d) also can't get group notices - but it still registers the notices as being received, which means when I log in with the actual viewer.. the notices don't pop up.

So... what other alternative ones are there that can resolve those problems? I'd like to keep it with NO graphics if possible,not even a map. I sit in a private sim during those times, so there's not really much worry about incoming nastiness... and the text only lets me pass it off as some kind of MSN-like program.

Thanks, but I read it has issues with IE, which is what I use... I'm kinda hoping more for a standalone version if possible

I heartily recommend the Nicholaz Viewer. It pretty much kept me in SL.

That sounds very frustrating

Wish I could suggest something but I've only used the Nicholaz viewer and not sure it would solve those issues. Will be reading along to see if there are others that would address these issues.

Well,I just tried out movable life.. and hmm.. how can I say it? It's slow, group IM and offline messages didn't work.. so no real improvement there... didn't see any way to use any of the groups I'm in except a group that I own... soooo *sigh*

Seriously though, have a look around for one of the bot programs, they may or may not do what you want.

I've never used one, but I believe they can send messages and so forth, and no I don't know where to get them, slexchange maybe?
