Hi, I have one of the new Linden Homes, and was wondering if there are any community resources for folks like me who want to talk with other residents with Linden Homes. Specifically, I'd like to meet some of my neighbors in Ryu! I'm at my house a lot and am frequently the only resident in the vicinity. If there's anyone reading this who has any information on where I can meet more Linden Home owners, I would be very appreciative!

Without something to do, people go elsewhere to quell the boredom. (^_^)y _____________________

I'm sure that there will eventually be a group or groups created by and for LH owners. But, what you're really seeing right now is what the lab hoped for. They're able to pack so many homes into a single sim because people are in such diverse time zones. (^_^) You're right! I feel pretty lucky to have been given the opportunity to participate. Also, there doesn't seem to be much you can ~do~ in a Linden Home. Without something to do, people go elsewhere to quell the boredom. (^_^)y Yup. Right after I posted this I saw another av in my neighborhood and went over and chatted for a bit. It was exactly the experience I was hoping for. She said she had gotten the house when she joined up with a premium account. That was encouraging, so maybe more people will come to live. I guess I'm hoping for a decent neighborhood where we can have street parties in Ryu. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I hope it happens! |

Do what we've done in Bay City: Make a group, invite the neighbors, and use it as a way to organize events and other things around your Linden Homes. I know having the Bay City Alliance has done a lot for our 'hood. _____________________

I guess I can go around the neighborhood and find the owner's names and just send them an invite. |

New problem

It's hard to tell who owns what (no surprise) and I can only rez objects (like a notegiver) on my own property. I'm stuck with having an object that gives notes to people to join the Ryu neighborhood group. I can't imagine how I'll attract neighbors if they don't walk by and see the box!

Spy.
Go to your neighbor's house. Right click and Inspect something that they've placed there, like furniture. Get the owner's name. Repeat for other houses in the neighborhood. Send them all a notecard inviting them to the neighborhood group. _____________________

Don't they own the land? Just use About Land. The neighbor might have someone else's stuff on the parcel, so About Land would be the most reliable means of determining ownership.

Not the house, but the land itself. Governor Linden owns the house but the LAND would be owned by the player. The house itself is actually counted on a different parcel.

Ah, the bane of early community networking. (._.) Whoo you said it ![]() Since posting the last time, I've met another one of my neighbors and told him my idea for the neighborhood group and he definitely wants to join. So, I'll keep trying and thanks to the great people on this thread for helping me figure things out ![]() |

I noticed there is a Nasceran group which I guess covers the entire Linden Homes continent including Ryu (???) Only 2 members though but thought I'd point that out http://world.secondlife.com/group/26517f17-4a28-8dff-1f32-54a8f8df0e7a

Send them all a notecard inviting them to the neighborhood group. I tend to mute people who spam me like this before even reading whatever it was they sent. The one time I've ever defriended someone, it was due to this. I removed her from my friends list and muted her - and didn't learn for a good two months that she had not actually been hacked by a spammer. _____________________

I just TP'd to Ryu.
It put me at 127,127,32 I clicked on about land. And it gave me the name of an SL resident, not Governor Linden. That said the homes are absolutely surrounded by protected land, so its easy to misclick and be checking the about land of the wrong spot. _____________________

You sound like a lovely, positive person, and I hope you enjoy your new Linden Home. You could start up a group yourself, call it The Linden Homes Alliance (taking the cue from Marianne here), and teleport around the sims to see who is knocking about. I don't mean badger people who are there; just put something inviting on your profile about how you've just moved to a Linden Home and always happy to chat about that, see where it goes. Word will soon get round about the group you have founded as more new residents arrive on these new sims. |

I was a little upset to notice that at least in Ryu, the homes cover the whole lot at ground. No lawn.
For me, I like to catch people in their lawns and gardens, and chat with them. But if they're behind a closed door, I try to give them privacy (although with ground homes, its often impossible to avoid camming them - I won't chat them up if they're inside). In my home sim, often when I see someone new at ground walking about, I stop over and say hello. While I don't like the notecards, as I said above. I do often IM new neighbors as well if I see they've moved in, but don't see them around. Less intrusive than putting a popup on someone's screen. _____________________

Has anyone sent any pictures of these sims to Snapzilla?
I put in a few sim names in the Snapzilla sim search and came up with nothing. It's possible that the Snapzilla sim names haven't been update recently. New users might not know about Snapzilla. My thinking was that one might be able to connect with land owners by commenting on pictures. _____________________

Here is my Linden Home in Buckeye sim.
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Buckeye/130/154/32 ![]() We're not supposed to build in the air, but I think the flag on the chimney flies under that ![]() It provides a reference point in the surrounding area. I think this is the best design (for my character) in the theme. The design has all of the outdoor area of the parcel in one rectangle, so I can make an inviting public area. Other house types either have no outdoor area in the parcel, or if they have, it's spread around the perimeter. I've put a danceball outside there. Inside are just two sofas in front of the fire and some free-swimming fish. I haven't had much time to do anything there due to my more mainline SL. I'll get back to it - lose the 30-prim motorbike and rezz some more outdoor stuff. I accepted the invitation just to get a feel for what was going on there. I don't think I would stay on there. This isn't because there is anything terribly wrong with the place. It's simply that I have a lot of land in very nice protected locations on which I can roll my own. Everyone - neighbours particularly - are free to use it as a hangout. _____________________
