Another Age Verfication Thread....Sorry in Advance

I have no clue what part of the puzzle I'm missing here. I've been in SL since '05 and have never had a problem entering a sim without ban lines. Tonight, I had a customer who requested a custom build on her property. She has set her land to "adult", and I was unable to get in. The message I got said I needed to "age verify". So...off to LL to age verify. Both of my IDs (license and SS#)FAILED the "SL" test (whatever the hell that is). The customer eventually changed the land settings to allow me to build, but NOW what? Is this going to be an ongoing problem with Zindra and other "adult" locations? I thought since I had a credit card on file; since I regularly cash out through PayPal; and since I have been permitted to PURCHASE mature land, I would be ALLOWED on Adult Land. Live Help suggested I submit a ticket...and wait. Is this a widespread issue?

You will be. The Age verification thing, as I understand, will only affect you if a parcel owner changes that setting themselves, as your customer had done.

Age verification is a different setting to account verification. Your customer needs to change the parcel settings to let you in.

It is really confusing, but there are two systems now. The "adult" land rating which happens at the region level, and which applies to Zindra, and the older "Age verification" system, which can be enabled by parcel owners. Payment Info is enough for "Account verification" which is what is required to enter Adult land and see Adult content in search.


(Sidenote: to see Adult content, once account verified, you have to go to edit> preferences >general and choose the drop down that enables PG, Mature, and Adult.)

This probably will be an ongoing problem.

If you have adult-only material, welcome to the new SL.
If you don't, this is a good reason to stay on mainland where you rightly belong and will just have less hassles.

Which I guess also sets up an interesting situation in that Premium members who do not go through the Aristotle system will have less grid access than free accounts that do verify via Aristotle. Am I reading this right?

That is already the case and has been for some time but age verification restrictions have also been flawed for some time and don't work properly, I don't know why people insist on using it.

I don't really understand why they don't disable the old system now that we have the new Adult rules. As I understand it, flagging your parcel to restrict access to Age Verified accounts in mature land offers no protection against an AR for not following the new rules if you are hosting adult content, and enabling this option on Adult land is redundant.

It sounds like someone dropped the ball big time on this one.
