If you haven't already, take a look at the Building Tips forum, and do a Search or look through some of the sticky posts. I don't do too much work with sculpties (I made one once and realized it was more work than I wanted to undertake regularly), but I'd be surprised if someone hasn't done a plugin for something like Blender that will do what you seek to do.

Omei Turnbull has a lovely plug-in for the freeware program Wings3D which allows import in .bmp format. I know Blender does, too, but if you don't know how to use either program, Wings is probably the simpler choice. Anyway, convert your tga file to a bmp file in Photoshop or what have you, import that into Wings, then you can export it from there as an .obj file to create your texture in blacksmith. You can get the plug-in here: /8/20/183764/1.html

thanks Jasp Hello, if you need to convert or save a TGA file to an *.obj file then I advice you to try Blender where you can open *.tga files, change them and export them in wavefront.obj format. All is free --
