Combat Bling? Like rhinestone encrusted SMGs?

Umm... man, they'd be swamped and badly if they were doing this in SL. Bling is free in many cases :p

:D I first parsed the thread title to be about the old cheat: using bursts of invisible particles to lag an opposing combatant's viewer.

Never thought of using black facelights, though. Good tip!

Aside from all the humor ... in order to eradicate facelights, you would have to take away the ability of a prim to shed light. Just like to eradicate bling, you would have to eradicate particles.

There is nothing wrong with facelights - or bling. Facelights that disturb ecosystems in neighboring sims are an issue ... just like people who wear so much bling they lag the region. But, you have the ability to turn off your viewing of attached light sources and particles anyway, so what's your point?

You can turn off the rendering of other Avatar's facelights. Torley shows you how:

There's an option to disable lights attached to avatars, it's under the advanced menu somewhere. It has two problems currently:

1. It disables lights attached to your own avatar. I have a lantern I sometimes carry to see my way at night. Oops.

2. It still counts those as part of the "6 local lights" so a facelighter can still screw up the environment.

I guess there's a bit of Big Brother run amok over there as well. I get the concept, but hell- i hate the idea of giving busybodies "permission" to not mind their own business.
