I can't mod my own object

Recently I bought a statue that comes with mod and transfer permission. I decide to add a shadow beneath it. I link the statue to this prim shadow. That means the prim shadow is a root prim. It has a default permission - transfer only.

The problem is, when I'm building using my alt. I decide to return this statue to my main to free up some prims on my land. Instead of returning it directly, my alt take it back into her inventory and later pass it back to my main.

Now my main got back a statue that has transfer only permission even though she is the original creator (of the main/shadow prim). Now I couldn't resize the statue.

Is there anyway to solve this problem?

I don't think there is a way to solve this if you don't have a copy of it. The fact that you created it doesn't count for anything if the permissions got set when someone else owned it. If your alt still has a copy s/he can retro engineer it for you and you can build it again.

You'll need to unlink the shadow from the statue, and create a new shadow, but make sure you change the permissions on the new shadow you make to modify/transfer before you link it to the statue.

Oh, ouch.

I've done that to and just had to bite the bullet. I still can't think of a way around it.

The only solution i can think of is to roll back the sim to a time before this happened. Once the permissions change there is no going back, that i know of.

I did the same with a large custom built. I drug a copy out to give to a friend and forgot that it had some no transfer scripted glass linked to it. oops. I called concierge and begged for a roll back.

hope that helps

however if the sim is a mainland sim, and it is rolled back, won't that affect the others who own land on that sim?

I would be rather miffed if they did a roll back every time someone goofed up, especially if I had a rather complicated build in progress, which would be wiped if the sim was rolled back...

I suppose no harm in asking... but don't expect a yes every time you make a booboo

That was last weekend. Too far back to rollback. Besides, its mainland.

It quite an expensive sculpture. Well, at least I still have it. Its not lost, but couldn't resize it.

Edit:
Hey, maybe I can return it to the original creator for a replacement. :D

Did you buy the statue from its original maker? You might explain to them the misadventure, and maybe they would be willing to exchange it for a fresh copy. You'll lose your shadow prim, but I'm guessing you don't care much about that part.

Totally agree, rollbacks should only be used as a last resort.

And yep mainland rollback are pretty rare. The only times I've rolled back private regions I have confirmed with residents first. =)

Sorry for your troubles Nae. I think the way to avoid it in the future is to make sure any prims you plan to share(with AVs with mod rights) are full perms. This becomes very important when working in groups(or even with an alt), leaving perms to be set only after the work is complete.

I have a couple other build breaking permissions stories, but am too embarrassed to share them here. Both were caused by multiple creators prims(or contents) and taking/dragging out copies without double checking the other persons prim perms.

At least you can still transfer the sculpture around =)) Sorry for the mod break though =/
