Help with My Avatar --Can't find it anywhere else

I am not pleased with the basic avatar I started with, and the appearance tools don't modify it enough to suit me. How can I change to a different BASIC avatar to start over?

I've searched the Knowledge Base and everywhere else that made sense...and some that didn't.

Any help?

Thanks.

If by basic you mean the Linden supplied stuff, you will find it all in the Library section of your inventory. The clothing folder has the generic avatars. You may find it easier to copy those folders into "your" part of inventory before trying them on, because sometimes wearing straight from the library gets hung up and fails.

Once you have one you want to try, just right-click on that folder and replace outfit.

OK, Thanks....I don't know why that simple piece of information was so hard to find.

Thanks again.

You can also customise your avie beyondd that with LL gives you in the library. This can be done by collecting freebies around the grid, or by buying items

Default avs can only be manipulated so far...

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Okay...as long as I'm on a roll here....this Avatar has a beard (which the "Apperance" routine will not actually change). Can I get rid of it?

Beard

Hi DelMar,

facial skin mostly comes with the "skin". Search for a freebie skin or buy a new one and just "wear" it. Then the beard should be away and your whole skin will look more detailed - well - depends on which skin you choose ;-)

Thanks...I'm glad somebody understands how this thing works. I didn't find the "built in" help resources to BE much help.

I appreciate the responses I've gotten. I know I probably put the question in a totally wrong forum to start with.

I'll wander off now and try to use the info.

No, this is actually the RIGHT forum for questions like this.

And don't wander off just yet, we haven't had a chance to say:

Hi, and welcome to the SL Website Forums, DelMar! You'll find answers to your questions here, but you'll also find a friendly community of interesting people.

There's an in-world group you can join that was started by the forum regulars. Look up "The Forum Cartel" in group search.

Hi DelMar, and welcome!

Lindal's right, these sorts of questions are exactly what this forum is all about. Chances are, we've all had the same questions at one point in time. Chances are, someone out there right now is reading the same questions you had and is saying, "Oh thank God someone asked that question!" And chances are, you'll probably get a more thorough answer in the forums than you will in the Knowledge Base, which is still vaguely difficult to wade through.
