hi all, lately when i take a snapshot it comes out as a compressed images... with an extension of .j2c
i am not able to open it
i probably did something to a setting somewhere but i can not figure out how to fix it.
does anyone have any suggestions for me please??

That would happen if you had, under the Client menu, accidently checked "Compress snapshots to disk".

/me waves : mornin' Bilbo From Chosen Few in the texturing forum: "When you upload an image to SL, it gets stored on the server in JPEG2000 format, an optionally lossless type of compressed file. I won't bother posting much information about it since SL's implimentation of it is outside our control as users. If you're curious, you can read all about it at http://www.jpeg.org/jpeg2000/index.html." Several programmes will open these files, including PSP, as well Photoshop with a plug-in added.

Compress images - this makes them into jpeg 2000 files
but stupidly it adds the suffix *.j2c if you change the suffix to *.jpe they will open in your photo processor.
they are the same -just named wrongly; Lindens -you Fools!
