Someone told me that land owners have the ability to view IM content if IMs are conducted on their sims. I can't find anything supporting that in the SL wiki... can someone give some clarification?

No, they cannot. Seconded. There's nothing built into SL itself which is designed to let you see private IMs. _____________________

Absolutely not.
This may be a distortion of something that a few landowners do...they record local chat. This is easy to do, but against the TOS unless they notify you (and is a violation of your privacy in any case, IMO. I wouldn't live in a place whose owner does this). _____________________
