Word of mouth, unique events, great staff and, most important, patience. It takes time for people to find you but if you have an environment that they like they will come back, tell their friends and your club will slowly grow. The days of opening a club and having instant crowds is long gone........clubs are a dime a dozen in SL. You need a place people will have fun at and feel comfortable.
Once you get a base then advertise. Advertising first is a shot in the dark that costs you money.......get the base first. People coming to your club from an ad will leave when they see no one there. Getting a club going is not easy. It's time consuming and can be expensive. But, some places make it big......it didn't happen by accident. Hard work, imagination and patience. |

It helps to have some sort of theme.
When I see the word "club" I instantly envision a vast rectangular hall decked out in dark blue with pink, glowing neon and some garish dance floor upon which scantily clad female avatars gyrate and yell "wooooo" with annoying frequency. It seems that the most popular places tend to stick to a theme: blues, formal, rock, punk whatever, and decorate accordingly. By picking a theme you could also get access to related groups that draw people with a common interest. _____________________

There's just a handfull of good clubs. Seems like a SL phase to build a lag master crap club, then wonder why no one comes to visit.
Check out +neurosix+ Night Club, and see what you are up against.* *Not an add or anything. I don't have any stake in the place, just where I party these days. Cyber-Goth theme. _____________________

the only thing that was done wrong was building a club and (I am guessing) expecting it to be popular...
try calling it a bar, and not a club, go out there in the world, talk to people visit some clothing places that sell biker specific clothes and politely ASK them if they would want to sponsor some events with gift certificates or something (please do not just drop notecards on owners of such establishments, it is very annoying, and if the others are anything like me, they get deleted immediately.) _____________________

Treat it like a business and answer these questions:-
1. What is your product (the club) and what makes it UNIQUE such that they'd want to visit it over all the other near identical places in SL? 2. Who are your customers? 3. Where are your customers and how will you target them? When you can answer those yourself, with honesty and clarity, then you'll know how to fill it. You may call me sceptical but if you mention an of the following keywords, I think you need to re-evaluate or continue with being lucky... splodder, zyngo, club, contest, strippers, Midnight Mania |

if you want to offer a hang-out style place, make sure you won't be like, and competing with the club with mall setup.
Good clubs became rare when they were starting to use them for traffic and pure promotions. - check out our vendors! - give the staff some linden love, they work hard for you! - hosts with gestures only to promote everything. - DJ's telling you to tip staff, get on the board etc. It's been done before in a thousand fold. My sim also has a club, owned by my partner. It is hardly open. Sometimes befriended artists just sing a bit... Or a crowd there has fun, and I DJ a bit just for the fun of it... parties are fun, spontantious and not ment to get extra cash, traffic or promotion. and that makes it for me a success. Good luck! _____________________

Time.
Or more specifically a few people willing to spend their time. That and possibly this pulled up on a second monitor: Talk to people that come in, and not just "hi." Add a note or two to their profile. That way when they come back you can refer to it and ask about something they said before. Yes, it is a note and it is cheating but the intent is to show you want them to be around, which you honestly do. There is the old joke that the key is sincerity; once you can fake that your in. And it takes time. But once you have a core of 6 or 8 people, it will come. |

My advice for making profitable clubs.
Don't even try. Making a profit is almost impossible with the number of clubs out there Instead make a club you and your friends have fun at. If it stops being fun either change it or tear it down. _____________________

I don't believe those vote boxes are worth a damn anymore. Bikers like good beer, good music, good company, and women. The beer is a moot point but hire good dj's, have good themed events, and put a few dancers on the stage Really it is the music and events that will get people to come back. Advertising is great, it gets them there. _____________________

Never understood the vote boxes what exactly do they do? Besides me voting. Most of them send their results to a "popular places in SL" webpage. _____________________

Two words: Free Sex One better word: Unique. There are free sex clubs all over the place. There are thousands of strip clubs. There are hundreds of ballrooms. There are thousands of taverns, pubs, bars, and hangouts. What makes yours different? As a consumer, I have only a very few clubs in my Groups list. Mostly, they are owned by friends, and I have them there as a favor to my friends, and put up with the annoying group notices and chat spam. I try to visit them fairly regularly, and support my friends' endeavors. There is ONE place I have in my Groups for its own sake. That's because what they offer is live performances. That's their specialty, what makes them unique. An endless string of live performers. Each artist does maybe one half hour set, then moves aside for the next one. There are like four distinct "clubs" in the overall build, so something is almost always happening on one stage or another. As for landmarks, I have a lot of club locations. I try to run around and check them all every few months, because clubs come and go faster than almost any other feature of SL. _____________________

ok.....i feel as though i should clarify a few points......our club does not offer sex of any kind....no escorts....thats not was we set out for when the club was opened. we do have dancers....some of the best in my opinion...though i may be a little biased on that one....either way we have dancers. we talk to every person that comes in....and not just hi how ya doin. every single person that comes in is treated like an old friend. we always try to make everyone feel welcome and at home. our friendliness or silliness is not reserved for only the specific people that come in.....we spread it around to everyone. we offer great themed events....again....only my opinion....the have an awesome dj who not only plays great music on her own she also has no problem taking any request of any kind.....shes the queen of finding the impossible lol......the atmosphere here is laid back and fun...no drama....no up-tight snootiness...and most importantly we arent looking for the profit so much as friendly people to spend out time with when we are in the club....the profit is only an added bonus if we get it.....my honest feeling on that is i dont even care if anyone that comes in tips me for dancing as long as they have a good time when they come in....and everyone here feels that same way
so now do you seesee where im coming on feeling like we're doing something wrong on the whole point of trying to get people in here....lol |

Thanks Lindal for the voting answer
![]() Trying to think of what "clubs" I like to go to. Here is a few things and some have been mentioned already: 1. Friendly atmosphere. The host or hostess greet you when you come in 2. Talking, love it when there is people talking. Now if it is a more romantic place that is understandable of no talking ![]() 3. Them Yahooos and gesture things dont really like them and fills up my screen alot of times. 4. Tip Jars that announce Bec Sadofsky has just paid 100L I really dont like that, enough that I dont do it if it happens the first time I tip I pay the DJ directly after that. If asked by the dj why I will explain ![]() Hmmm that is about it, I think. And yes I like special events too so maybe think of something unique and advertise that way? Dont know how you would do this but if it is a biker bar maybe have a biker related items as prizes? Editted to add that I see you posted while I was writing this one ![]() _____________________

so now do you seesee where im coming on feeling like we're doing something wrong on the whole point of trying to get people in here....lol yes yes yes... so both Lindal and I will point you back to ... UNIQUE... What do you do... that is unique from every other club that claims to be or do what you described about yours? Why should anyone bother visiting, what's the compelling differentiator(s)? It's not criticism, it's a frank question, no need to reply here, it's a personal question you need to ask yourself. Then back to my other questions, who are your customers and where are they... you need to go and find them before you can market your venue. |
