Notification service in case of... whatever

It happens from time to time that serious events in RL make it impossible for one of us to get inworld. I think that if I, for some reason, couldn't get to my computer, I would want my husband or a friend to be able to notify my SL friends, so no one would worry.

I know of a couple of cases where a person dropped out of SL, sometimes after something traumatic in real life, and the person left behind just wants to know that they are alive...

As to a possible solution: Please remember that I am just BRAINSTORMING. I'm not proposing a solution. I want to know if this has been thought about before, and what if anything has been proposed.

There are two problems, as I see it. One, which I don't want to touch, is: how do you contact me if I disappear from SL? I think that is something individuals must do between themselves. I mean, if I disappeared, there are two ppl in SL that I would want to have my home number or office number and my real name, so they could find out if I was okay.

In the other direction, I'd like my husband or someone to be able to easily contact friends inworld.

I'm wondering if there is a way to do this easily and (if possible) anonymously.

For instance, a service where you could sign up through a website and make a list of people to notify inworld. Given a name and password, your relative or friend could send a message to SL friends...

Does anyone have ideas, objections, alternatives?

If I can work out all the details, it's something I'd actually like to set up.

My first thought would be to create an alt account that ya never use.......make sure your friends in world have the name of that alt, and that the alt has them all on a their friends list........and know it's YOUR alt.......and then give one of your loved ones the name and PW for that alt and tell them in the event of...............please log-in as 'such and such' and send a note to the folks on the friends list explaining what has happened to me.

But on a more personal note.........if anything happens to me......SL is going to be the LAST thing anyone of my family or friends is worried about.......and as much as I have come to truly adore some folks in SL.......well.......they know that I do......and there's no reason I would suddenly disappear without letting them know I'd be absent.....so they can figure it out. And they would know they are/were special to me and they mattered very very much in my SLife and my first one. Namaste. ;)
