I appear to be having a shoe colour problem. The last two pairs I bought were black and red yet are showing as white on my screen (but not on others screens). Everything else on the screen is the correct colour. Both pairs of shoes are not editable so I can't just go and change the colour.
A petty problem I know, but it's driving me mad!!

I don't recognize this problem.
I'd suggest starting with clearing the cache and rebooting your computer.
Also provide info on what version of SL you are using.
Try a different version. Detach the item and reattachit.
Enter appearance mode, Adjust some setting by a value of 1 and save your appearance and exit appearance mode.
If you can copy the shoes, try wearing a copy.

Color may be so high texture wise that its taking forever to load. Lot of people load certain textures at 1024 by 1024 thinking the quality will be better but lot of people's video cards take forever to load it. I have had this discussion with few people about this some think most people's computers should be able to handle it and bigger file sizes increase quality. Then others say it causes texturing loading issues. Or another possibly the texture was never transferred to you at all for some fluke reason when you bought it.

A friend of mine had a customer IM her recently about something similar. Seems a certain silver texture suddenly decided to not appear anymore on the jewelry set she had bought. My friend rezzed out a duplicate set to check and the silver texture had gone plain white on hers too. She had to replace the now gone texture with another one and gave a replacement to the customer asap. I know of another business owner who had his nickel texture disappear from his signs, he also had to make a new texture as a replacement. I'd send a IM/notecard to the creator of your shoes and ask if this is a SL texture bug. You could even offer to come and show them what has happened. Creators can't fix a problem if they don't know about it and the good ones will replace the defective item for you.

It happened to me a couple times yesterday...shoes and belts looked white for a while, then finally the texture loaded. Seems to be an SL glitch...some kind of lag. When I opened edit to view the items texture & color...all was in order. So...basically I just had to wait a bit and it finally appeared.

The white could be part of "missing image" showing.

A petty problem? You forget you're talking about women and shoes.

Sorry for the seemingly strange request, but could you try the following? * rez a prim * go to the texture tab, pick blank for the texture (goes white) * colour it using the palette (should change to the colour you pick) If it never changes away from white, no matter what colour you pick then it's a bug I ran into ages ago and it does have a work-around . (Not pasting the whole thing here since it would only confuse if you're running into something else entirely)

I guess you have a nVidia 5xxx card in that case? (Help / About Second Life, your video card will be listed there if you don't know). --- Colour overlay for textures not working: /142/54/179605/1.html - Post #12 has the step-by-step That one is my original thread with a work-around that fixed it for me and everyone else I've come across with the same problem (post back or bug me in-world if it's unclear for some reason since it could be a bit out of date if nVidia moved their settings around since then ). You can look at post #15 in that thread as well, which links to a quote from another thread where someone used a proggie to fix it for them, so that could be worth a try as well. Hope that helped, good luck .

From: Fortuna Felwitch I tried, butit didn't work Thanks for trying though. You didn't mention which video card you have? If it's a 5xxx series, did you try the other workaround further along in the thread as well? ( /142/54/179605/1.html#post1485443)
