Is it possible to craft a script that would: 1.Limit the amount of time any one resident can use a camping pad. 2.Limit the number of times any one resident can use any camp pad under your control 3............? The idea is that I want to be able, if and when I decide to allow camping when I establish a venue, to set a time limit (say 2 hours or so) during which a camper can switch pads, with the time on the previous pad being carried over to the new one up to the set maximum time. Once the maximum is reached, the camper is paid out and disconnected from the pad or pole with a thank-you message informing them that their shift is over for the day. If the resident in question tries to get back on any camp pad on the property, they get a message like,'go and rest now. You can begin your next shift this time tomorrow' or something like that.
In addition, is there anything I can use to enforce a dress code?

If the purpose of camping is to increase traffic numbers why would you care how long one person has been there?

1) About camping...I used to camp the first few days in SL until I realized I can pump money into the SL economy to enhance my lifestyle, instead of sitting camping for hours on end...bored out of my mind. I guess it would take a certain personality type to continually subject themselves to the humiliating, boring camping seats, making only PEANUTS. My recommendation would be getting some cool DJ's and some cool music to attract a crowd.
2) Dress code? Just make it clothing optional and there would be no dress code issue.

A good question. The answer is: a) I'd want campers there to give my customers something interesting to look at besides my wares; rest assured any camper on any venue of mine would be in motion one way or the other, and b) I want to be fair and discourage padhoggery, as well as giving as many low-linden folk the chance to garner a few of same. When I first began here, I received a few lindens for camping for a bit on a couple of dance poles; it made a small but significant economic difference for me. I wish to pay a couple of business owners forward. That's why it makes a difference.

Many of the camping chairs/equipment have menus which allow you to set: 1. The amount of time; 2. The amount of pay for that time; 3. Group or no group; 4. Max per day. There is also "roaming camping equipment" that allows avatars to move a certain range before being logged out - so they can shop while they're there, including one made by a certain forum regular who makes shoes too *hint*. Dress code? No, no way you can enforce that.

Some of what you are asking to do is better handled by people than scripts. Consider hiring camping nannies or whatever, you will find no shortage of human campers who hate bots as much as everyone else. For the daily limits, some of the zone camping systems might work for you. These can also be defeated with alt accounts and will have potentially shaky memories if they rely on in-world data storage. This is part of where your human assistants can help out. From: Bradley Bracken If the purpose of camping is to increase traffic numbers why would you care how long one person has been there? There are people who use camping on their land but try to strike a balance. They will pay people to hang around, but they are also happy to leave most of their camping slots empty rather than give them to bots or people who aren't really there. It's kind of interesting to watch those sorts of places, the campers sometimes even talk!

From: HoneyBear Lilliehook Dress code? No, no way you can enforce that. You could have the camp chair only work if the camper is wearing certain prim attachments though. As long as the dress code relies entirely on prims, that could work.

In addition, is there anything I can use to enforce a dress code? Honeybear is talking about the Camp Master by Spank Specialties, which allows avatars to register and tracks all their time spent within the configured area over a period of 24 hours. It logs them out automatically after they've camped the maximum configured time, with a message. If you want a custom script that works the same way for a widely distributed set of camping pads (as opposed to restricting avatars to an area), I haven't seen it but you might try the Camp Master's maker. If that doesn't work for you, I could certainly whip this up for you (for a very reasonable price, since I'm trying to build a customer base). Before paying anyone, tho, you might try posting something like "Special Camping Script" in the Products Wanted forum. Someone may just step up and do it for free. (sigh - I have yet to find a single customer thru the forums because I keep being TOO helpful in this way!) re: the dress code - you cannot enforce anything like "formal dress required". It's possible to detect certain sorts of scripted attachments, but I doubt that's what you're after.

Hi Kitty I've spent both a lot of time camping, and a lot of time looking at equipment as I opened my stores. I think you'd have to re-script the camper to allow for this. It's not an option in any of the equipment I've looked at. I forgot to mention that there is new camping equipment out which makes the avatar respond within a certain time period or they get logged off, and then there are the game playing campers - where you have to play the game to camp.

Yes, but no.
Since anyone can create an alt, you can't keep people from exceeding the limit -- you can only encourage them.

I guess if you can say Spank's name, I can say CCTV's name...lol Yes, "naming names" is fine when done in a postive context like this. Here's the relevant sentence from the Forum Guidelines: "Also, threads that are addressed to a single individual or group are inappropriate on the forums, this includes slander or "naming names" in a posts title, starting polls about a particular resident or group, etc." No matter how people revile camping, I don't think that saying someone makes camping products could be construed as slander

LOL...I think you're right.
I, for one, believe that camping has a place, if done properly - NOT to drive up traffic, but to help those new residents that need help. I have exactly two camping spots at my location. That won't do a thing for my traffic, but it will help the newbies that come through the sim...and there are many.

I was in a Japanese sim this weekend, and encountered a new kind of camping thing i had never seen. I was attempting to commuicate with the land owner, and i kept getting paid 3L by them, it took me awhile to realize they had something set up that paid people who spoke! I don't know who made it, or how it determined who to pay, other than the obvious, AVs in the area who were actively speaking for some period or something. But I thought it was a nice idea.

Lord Leafblower has something similar to what the OP has asked about. The more sophisticated camping pads will check periodically (at intervals set by the owner) to make sure the camper is still there/is actively controlled by a human being, and can force it so that someone else must occupy the pad before it can be re-used by the same person.

If we took residents answers there one day for a field trip "Come and ask your questions in world kind of thing" I think payments would soon slow down

Anyone know of camping that keeps track of the amount per camper per day, and can limit it per camping pad?
One of my clients needs a camping pad that only lets an avatar, say earn 50L per day. and can't re-camp after 50L is reached... do you know of anything like this?

Tell your friend to check Spanks Campmaster. It's expensive, but does exactly that.

Thanks for all the endorsements Honeybear! You just earned another pair of shoes LMAO. One of the things I have done with the Grab and Go systems is to make the avatar wear an object to register with the system in order to camp. The commercially available bots that are out there cannot attach an object(I own a bot for testing). The avatar can then wander the entire SIM. I also made sure that the cut off stops them from camping. Rhonda Bosen from Botany Bay is using them on her sim and was pleased to report that her campers are taking advantage of the zone camping by riding on the bus, shopping, and even riding horseback -- all while drinking a cappucino LOL. The systems support up to 30 avatars with choices for the sim owner as to how many concurrent campers can register with the system.
For the single solution - (camp pads etc) with bullet proof protection -- afk, anti idle, security questions; I would recommend Dragos Zaoh or Lord Leafblower. I also have a few antibot campers but I must say these guys rock and I have tried my bot on their stuff LMAO.
One last piece of knowledge that might help in shopping for a anti bot camper -- They have no graphic interface so they cannot respond to drop down menus or prompts because they can't see them.
Cheers and I hope this helps

When I worked for MindSpring, one of the execs was fond of saying that the dresscode was "it's nice to be dressed."
