Hello, I was wondering how to make dvd's appear in secondlife. I wanted to make videos for my business then get them in the game. I cant seem to find any information on it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks I'm not aware of any method other than converting them to streaming media, hosting it on a web site, and then streaming it into Second Life using the streaming media options on your land. |

Thanks for the quick replies. I knew about those. I'm sure someone that has a dvd/rental business could give me an idea of on how to start.

Have you checked the product descriptions on the "DVD rentals" available on a place like XStreetSL? The "DVDs" are actually urls to streaming media (perhaps with some sort of password protection to make sure that no one who didn't by the "DVD" is able to connect, that I don't know).

Thanks for the quick replies. I knew about those. I'm sure someone that has a dvd/rental business could give me an idea of on how to start. There are no DVD's in SL. They're all using streaming media. They're just using the "DVD" term so people will have access to a virtual product they can relate to. That is the only way to get SL video to ever play, if it's being streamed from a website somewhere. Even if it were someday possible to have SL show you a real DVD, that DVD would be required to be actually loaded into the DVD-ROM/DVD-RW drive on your computer or you'd never see it. Streaming will always remain the only way to make the video viewable remotely. |
