Splitting up prims unevenly between parcels

Major beginner question here, but I am curious... if I want to split up an openspace sim and rent out a portion, but don't want to split the prims in half, can this be done without reducing the actual land area?

In other words, I'd like it to be:

3750 prims total available

Area 1: 32768 area and 2813 prims
Area 2: 32768 area and 937 prims

Maybe not that exactly, but something similar.

Vikki, BTW, where did you get your OpenSpace sim? What was the cost?

Prims are dependant on land size. The smallest plot, 16sqm is always 3 prims. Multiple from there. You would have to adjust your land size to get those prims.

If you own both, and they are in same sim - both plots will still show the total of both land peices as your maximum.

When did they double the amount of prims on an openspace sim?

Right on the 2nd paragraph, Talon, but not quite right on the first. There are 4096 16sqm parcels in a sim. If you multiply that by 3 prims you only get 12288, not 15,000. To get a more accurate prim count on a parcel, you need to divide that amount of land by 65,536, and then take that proportion out of 15,000.

But Vikki's sim is an open space, with 3750 prims, not 15,000. But you are right, she can put them anywhere she wants. Land space has nothing to do with it. She could even put all 3750 on a 16 sq meter parcel if they fit.

They doubled them recently.

You can do what you describe by manipulating the object bonus value in the Estate Tools. It's not the most user friendly thing, but it's all we have :)

That would work to get a bigger amount of prims for the plot that is supposed to have them, but the other plot would be allowed the same amount until the sim was full. You can set it up like that, but you'll have to police the parcel that is supposed to use less. It will work great if you are trying to rent the side with the most prims and use a smaller amount of prims on the other side for scenery.

I'm with you, Talon. Seems like a necessary evil at times, doesn't it? :-)

Eep... I missed that somehow :o.

$75/month is pretty much what I pay for rent right now anyway, and it's close to the same amount of prims *ponders*.

Thanks so much for that link :).

So I guess I still don't get it. (sorry). All I can do is raise the object bonus on the estate tool, which seems to apply to all parcels. It seems if this is going to work there has to be a way to do prim bonuses on the land itself, not the estate.

I know I'm missing something...

Should I have done this before I divided up my land perhaps? Its already divided in half.

That's not possible though, the region bonus factor applies to all parcels on the sim. If you raise it to 1.5 you'll see 2812 "free" prims on each parcel.

You can still rent it out that way, you'll just have to make sure the renter understands that their prim allotment is 937 and not the 2812 it shows in About Land and regularly check to make sure they're not going over their limit.

The only way to fix the other parcel to 937 prims is to reduce its size to 16348m².
